Industrial cooling done right

Factory HVAC in Al Balad

In Al Balad, downtown Jeddah, factories and workshops share tight streets and tall buildings with markets and residential blocks. A factory HVAC system here must handle machine and process heat while respecting the residential neighbours in close quarters.

When does a factory need a specialist system?

  1. 1

    Machine heat exhausting the workers

Compressors, motors and furnaces push out steady heat that scattered split units cannot handle. We assess every heat source on site and design a system that removes that heat and delivers cooled air precisely where people work.

  2. 2

A high roof that traps hot air

Hot air rises and collects under the roof while workers suffer at floor level. Evaporator positions, airflow angles and unit sizing all depend on the ceiling height and building shape, and the site survey decides each of these.

  3. 3

    Production dust destroying equipment

In wood, metal and plastic factories, coarse dust enters units and damages compressors and coils. We select equipment suited to industrial environments and design air paths that separate cooling air from contaminated process air wherever possible.

Who it's for

  • Building a new factory that needs HVAC

We join at design stage to fix unit positions, duct routes and extraction before the roof is cast and machines are installed, so the system is built into the structure from the start.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Industrial site survey

Our team visits the factory during operation to measure actual heat from machines, map worker zones and critical processes, record ceiling heights and identify possible duct routes.

  2. 2

    System design

We design central plant, distributed units or a combination to suit the factory, and fix the positions of extraction and ventilation units, duct sizes and damper locations before you approve the work.

  3. 3

    Fabrication and installation

We fabricate duct in our own workshop from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, mount units and insulate pipework with Armaflex and Kimmco materials.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and scheduled maintenance

We commission the system, check airflow distribution, refrigerant pressure and damper balance, then set up a preventive and corrective maintenance contract timed to fit around your production shifts.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Small factories and workshops in Al Balad often occupy mid-height floors in older buildings never designed for heavy cooling loads. The streets are very narrow, roof access is limited, and aged electrical wiring needs careful review before installing a central system. Dust from production lines clogs filters rapidly, demanding frequent maintenance and smart ventilation planning.

Al Balad is Jeddah's historic downtown district, mixing small factories, workshops, markets and closely built residential blocks.

Most small factories here have no separate large roof, so HVAC units mount on windows or shared exterior walls with adjoining buildings.

The AC setup in Al Balad

  1. 1

High-capacity split units on exterior walls

In small Al Balad factories, we install powerful split cooling units mounted on shared exterior walls, avoiding the need for large roof space.

  2. 2

    Isolated ventilation for heavy processes

Production processes generating heavy heat and dust require isolated air pathways separate from the nearby residential zones.

  3. 3

    Multi-stage filter system

We install multi-stage high-capacity filters to handle heavy dust from production lines, with easy access for quick changes.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Balad

  1. 1

Agree on parking and access route

Al Balad's streets are very tight, so tell us in advance the nearest possible parking and the safest access route to your site.

  2. 2

Identify the best outdoor unit location

Make sure the exterior wall chosen for the unit is safe, as far as possible from nearby residential buildings, and accessible for maintenance.

  3. 3

    Check electrical capacity before installation

Check your factory's electrical panel and its total capacity and available circuits, so we can confirm there is enough for the HVAC system.

FAQ

Questions about Factory HVAC

Can you cool just the worker zones without cooling the whole factory?

Yes, and we do it often. We design spot cooling for workstations or worker walkways using independent units or directed duct runs, rather than trying to cool the entire building volume. The right approach depends on the site and the process, and the survey decides it.

How do you handle heavy industrial dust in Jeddah?

We select units with a protection rating suited to the industrial environment and route airflow away from dust sources where the layout allows. In scheduled maintenance we inspect and clean coils, compressors and filters before deposits build up and affect unit performance.

Do you fabricate the large ducts a factory needs?

Yes, in our own workshop we fabricate round and rectangular duct to any size the design calls for, from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, including plenums, transitions and dampers needed to control air distribution.

Can you do maintenance between production shifts?

Yes, when we set up the preventive maintenance contract we agree times that fit your production schedule, whether between shifts or on rest days. The aim is that production lines are never stopped because of maintenance work.

What is the difference between process ventilation and worker-zone air conditioning?

Process ventilation targets heat and fumes produced by machinery and production lines, using exhaust fans and calculated fresh-air inlets sized to the heat load at each source. Worker-zone air conditioning aims to maintain a tolerable temperature at floor level without cooling the full volume of the building. A site survey of each factory decides which approach fits each area.

My factory is in an old building in Al Balad, can you install a central system?

We visit and assess the machine heat load, the building's age and wiring, then design a solution for your space and constraints. Sometimes separate high-capacity units work better than a single central system if roof space is tight.

Our street is very narrow, how do you bring in installation and service equipment?

We coordinate with you before the visit to find the nearest parking and a safe access route, and carry tools and parts by hand to the site if needed.

Production dust clogs our filters very quickly, what is the solution?

We design ventilation that isolates air from the production line, install robust quick-change filters, and set a maintenance schedule matched to your dust load.

The building's electrical wiring is very old, does it need upgrading?

We inspect the electrical capacity and wiring before installation, and if they cannot handle the HVAC load, we tell you clearly and may recommend upgrading part of the circuit.
