Home and villa cooling

Villa & home HVAC in Al Balad

In Al Balad, old Jeddah's heart, villas demand careful planning because homes here are smaller and sit closer together, limiting outdoor-unit placement options. Alrabih designs a system that cools every floor and room evenly without spoiling your home's facade.

  • Balanced cooling
  • Quiet bedrooms

When you need a villa HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    A new villa before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to plan the cooling before walls and ceilings close. We decide the system type for each floor and the pipe routes, saving you from cutting and drilling later.

  2. 2

A large majlis that never feels cool

Large sitting rooms need a different approach from ordinary rooms. Ceiling height, number of openings and sun direction in Jeddah all affect the choice, and the site survey is what decides the right solution.

  3. 3

    Old noisy units disturbing sleep

AC noise in a bedroom breaks sleep and wears on the family. Choosing the right system and placing it correctly gives the room the cooling it needs without sound that disturbs you or the people sleeping near you.

Who it's for

  • Living in a villa and replacing old systems

We study what is already in your villa floor by floor and propose systems that fix noise and uneven cooling without unnecessary cutting through finished walls.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Full villa survey

Our team visits every floor, studying sun exposure, ceiling heights, room count and how each space is used, before we suggest any system.

  2. 2

A cooling plan floor by floor

We produce a plan that names the system type for each zone, the indoor and outdoor unit positions, and how the work fits around any finishing trades already on site.

  3. 3

    Installation and pipe runs

We install the agreed systems floor by floor, run insulated copper and drain lines, vacuum each line before start-up, and confirm that units near bedrooms run quietly.

  4. 4

    Handover and maintenance contract

We start every unit with you present and check cooling in each room, then offer a preventive and corrective maintenance contract to keep the whole system performing through the summer.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Balad villas are smaller than their northern counterparts, with narrow passages between homes and limited facade width, so interiors split between a large majlis and relatively small bedrooms. Choosing the outdoor-unit position calls for deep knowledge of the old home's design and engineering limits, and spreading cooling across multiple rooms needs a system fitted with dampers to control airflow into each zone.

Al Balad is Jeddah's oldest historic district, marked by closely spaced older villas around markets and narrow lanes.

Most Al Balad villas run multiple split units or a small ducted system to avoid large outdoor structures sprawling across narrow facades.

The AC setup in Al Balad

  1. 1

    Multiple splits with separate controls

The common setup in Al Balad villas is one or two splits spread across the majlis and bedrooms, each indoor unit with its own remote.

  2. 2

    Small ducted system with dampers

Larger Al Balad villas sometimes choose a small ducted system with simple hidden ducts and dampers to control airflow into each zone.

  3. 3

Outdoor unit on roof or side wall

The front facade is kept clear, so the outdoor unit sits on the roof or rear side wall away from the main street.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Balad

  1. 1

Tell us about the home's layout and available spaces

Explain the number of floors and rooms, where the majlis and bedrooms are, and whether you have a roof or rear balcony we can reach.

  2. 2

Ensure the team can reach the roof or side wall

Check that any stairway or passage to the roof or rear side is safe and practical before the visit day.

  3. 3

Have drawings or photos of the home ready

If you have architectural drawings or photos of the facades, roof and rooms, send them beforehand to speed up the design process.

FAQ

Questions about Villa & home HVAC

Should I use central AC or a split for each room?

There is no single answer that suits every villa. One floor with rooms close together may suit a concealed central system, while separate floors or spread-out rooms often work better with individual splits. The site survey is what decides the right fit for your space and how you use it.

How do you keep the facade tidy with outdoor units on it?

At the survey we look at every option: the roof, the back or side of the building, and ventilation shafts. We choose a spot that gives the unit enough air and is easy to reach for servicing, without putting outdoor units on the main front or creating noise in the street.

How do Jeddah's dust, humidity and salty sea air affect a home system?

Humid, salty air affects heat exchangers and exposed outdoor units over time, and dust blocks filters faster than in dry climates. We take this into account when placing outdoor units away from direct sea winds, and a preventive maintenance contract catches that build-up before it hurts performance.

Do you handle both installation and maintenance for the whole villa?

Yes, we handle design and installation and then offer a preventive and corrective maintenance contract covering every system in the villa. Having one contractor who knows what was installed makes any later servicing or repair faster and more accurate, and you never have to explain each unit's history to someone new.

How do you decide between a concealed unit and a visible split for a room?

The decision depends on ceiling height, the type of finish and the building stage. A room with a high ceiling and generous floor area may accept a concealed cassette, while a small room with a low ceiling or a fully finished space often suits a visible split. Where the outlet sits also affects how air reaches every corner, and the site survey is what settles the choice.

My villa in Al Balad has a narrow facade; where do you put the outdoor unit?

We study the home's design and any available space on the roof or side walls away from direct sight. We choose the position that keeps your front facade looking good.

My majlis is large and my bedrooms are small; how do you balance cooling between them?

We fit a system with dampers in each zone, so you control how much cold air flows into the majlis or bedroom depending on what you need.

Sea air and humidity in Al Balad are high; does this affect the unit?

Yes, coastal humidity speeds corrosion in pipes and coils, so we choose thicker copper, strong drainage and recommend regular maintenance.

Homes and villas around me are very close; is installation affected?

Closeness may limit placement options, but we coordinate with neighbours beforehand and select positions that do not cause trouble or conflict.
