When does a factory need a specialist system?

  1. 1

    Machine heat exhausting the workers

Compressors, motors and furnaces push out steady heat that scattered split units cannot handle. We assess every heat source on site and design a system that removes that heat and delivers cooled air precisely where people work.

  2. 2

A high roof that traps hot air

Hot air rises and collects under the roof while workers suffer at floor level. Evaporator positions, airflow angles and unit sizing all depend on the ceiling height and building shape, and the site survey decides each of these.

  3. 3

    Production dust destroying equipment

In wood, metal and plastic factories, coarse dust enters units and damages compressors and coils. We select equipment suited to industrial environments and design air paths that separate cooling air from contaminated process air wherever possible.

Who it's for

  • Building a new factory that needs HVAC

We join at design stage to fix unit positions, duct routes and extraction before the roof is cast and machines are installed, so the system is built into the structure from the start.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Industrial site survey

Our team visits the factory during operation to measure actual heat from machines, map worker zones and critical processes, record ceiling heights and identify possible duct routes.

  2. 2

    System design

We design central plant, distributed units or a combination to suit the factory, and fix the positions of extraction and ventilation units, duct sizes and damper locations before you approve the work.

  3. 3

    Fabrication and installation

We fabricate duct in our own workshop from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, mount units and insulate pipework with Armaflex and Kimmco materials.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and scheduled maintenance

We commission the system, check airflow distribution, refrigerant pressure and damper balance, then set up a preventive and corrective maintenance contract timed to fit around your production shifts.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Wahah's factories are very diverse: heavy industry like metals and machinery, light manufacturing like electronics and plastics, each with different thermal demands. Ceilings are high, spaces are large, and heat builds fast from heavy machinery and production processes. Some shops run a single shift, others multiple shifts, so the cooling system must be flexible and adapt to different loads. Dust and fumes also vary widely, so the system needs frequent maintenance and intensive filter cleaning.

Al Wahah sits in Jeddah's east industrial sector, a diverse zone of heavy, light and medium factories with multiple production types.

Factories here use different cooling systems depending on shop size and production type, from split units for small shops to central systems for larger plants, with outdoor units spread across rooftops and external walls.

The AC setup in Al Wahah

  1. 1

Mixed systems: split and semi-central cooling

Al Wahah uses varied systems depending on shop size, from split units for small shops to semi-central cooling for larger shops in the same complex.

  2. 2

Outdoor units spread across rooftops and walls

Because of diverse shops and different spaces, outdoor units spread across multiple rooftops and various external walls to ensure efficient cooling.

  3. 3

    Heavy-duty filters and intensive maintenance

Diverse fumes and dust from different shops require heavy-duty filters and cleaning at least weekly.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Wahah

  1. 1

Specify outdoor unit locations for each shop

Tell us where each outdoor unit sits (roof, external wall) and how to safely reach it before the visit.

  2. 2

Coordinate with all shop owners or management

If multiple shops share the complex, coordinate with them all about visit and maintenance time to avoid clashing with work hours.

  3. 3

Ensure safe access to filters and ducts

Verify that all filters and duct outlets are safely and easily accessible, especially if they are high or in tight areas.

FAQ

Questions about Factory HVAC

Can you cool just the worker zones without cooling the whole factory?

Yes, and we do it often. We design spot cooling for workstations or worker walkways using independent units or directed duct runs, rather than trying to cool the entire building volume. The right approach depends on the site and the process, and the survey decides it.

How do you handle heavy industrial dust in Jeddah?

We select units with a protection rating suited to the industrial environment and route airflow away from dust sources where the layout allows. In scheduled maintenance we inspect and clean coils, compressors and filters before deposits build up and affect unit performance.

Do you fabricate the large ducts a factory needs?

Yes, in our own workshop we fabricate round and rectangular duct to any size the design calls for, from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, including plenums, transitions and dampers needed to control air distribution.

Can you do maintenance between production shifts?

Yes, when we set up the preventive maintenance contract we agree times that fit your production schedule, whether between shifts or on rest days. The aim is that production lines are never stopped because of maintenance work.

What is the difference between process ventilation and worker-zone air conditioning?

Process ventilation targets heat and fumes produced by machinery and production lines, using exhaust fans and calculated fresh-air inlets sized to the heat load at each source. Worker-zone air conditioning aims to maintain a tolerable temperature at floor level without cooling the full volume of the building. A site survey of each factory decides which approach fits each area.

My workshop runs multiple shifts, can the system handle extended operation?

Yes, we design the system for continuous operation, but it needs monthly checks of the compressor, filters, pipes and fans, especially if the shift runs more than 12 hours daily.

The workshop is on another building's roof, how do you get equipment and the outdoor unit up there?

We agree on a safe transport plan before the visit, and may need a crane or tall ladder depending on height. We verify the structure is safe before mounting the unit.

Different production types across shops, can you customise the system for each?

Yes, we inspect each shop separately, measure different heat loads, then design separate cooling units or balance cold air distribution to suit each zone's needs.

Heavy fumes and dust clog filters quickly, how often should we clean them?

It depends on production type and fume levels, but in Al Wahah we typically advise weekly filter checks and cleaning or replacement as needed, especially in heavy shops.
