Industrial cooling done right

Factory HVAC in Al Wurud

In Al Wurud, central Jeddah, clothing factories and light industries operate at high density in mid-rise buildings. The cooling and ventilation system here must balance intense indoor heat and dust with worker protection.

When does a factory need a specialist system?

  1. 1

    Machine heat exhausting the workers

Compressors, motors and furnaces push out steady heat that scattered split units cannot handle. We assess every heat source on site and design a system that removes that heat and delivers cooled air precisely where people work.

  2. 2

A high roof that traps hot air

Hot air rises and collects under the roof while workers suffer at floor level. Evaporator positions, airflow angles and unit sizing all depend on the ceiling height and building shape, and the site survey decides each of these.

  3. 3

    Production dust destroying equipment

In wood, metal and plastic factories, coarse dust enters units and damages compressors and coils. We select equipment suited to industrial environments and design air paths that separate cooling air from contaminated process air wherever possible.

Who it's for

  • Building a new factory that needs HVAC

We join at design stage to fix unit positions, duct routes and extraction before the roof is cast and machines are installed, so the system is built into the structure from the start.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Industrial site survey

Our team visits the factory during operation to measure actual heat from machines, map worker zones and critical processes, record ceiling heights and identify possible duct routes.

  2. 2

    System design

We design central plant, distributed units or a combination to suit the factory, and fix the positions of extraction and ventilation units, duct sizes and damper locations before you approve the work.

  3. 3

    Fabrication and installation

We fabricate duct in our own workshop from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, mount units and insulate pipework with Armaflex and Kimmco materials.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and scheduled maintenance

We commission the system, check airflow distribution, refrigerant pressure and damper balance, then set up a preventive and corrective maintenance contract timed to fit around your production shifts.

  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.

What sets this district apart

Al Wurud is a light industrial district focused on textiles, clothing, paper and printing, with 4 to 6-storey buildings and mid-height ceilings compared to Al Sharafiyah's heavy plants. Heat comes from sewing machines, dyeing and pressing operations and dryers, while moisture from dyeing processes adds humidity challenges. Spaces are split across multiple floors, requiring balanced distribution between levels, and outdoor-unit placement is limited by area congestion and relatively narrow streets.

Al Wurud is in Jeddah's central industrial zone, a district of light factories spread across multiple floors with mid-height ceilings.

Most clothing and paper factories here occupy multiple floors, needing distributed cooling systems with separate or central units per floor or floor group.

The AC setup in Al Wurud

  1. 1

Central system with ducting to multiple floors

Multiple floors benefit from one or two central cooling units with a ductwork network that distributes cold air evenly to each floor.

  2. 2

Supplemental cooling units for upper floors

Upper floors may need small supplemental units or splits to balance the rising heat from lower floors.

  3. 3

Strong drainage system for excess humidity

Dyeing and drying produce heavy moisture, so we install a central drainage system that collects water from cooling and dehumidifying units and discharges it safely outside.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Wurud

  1. 1

Provide floor plans and production section boundaries

Send floor plans and the locations of each production section (sewing, dyeing, drying) so we can distribute units and ducts efficiently.

  2. 2

Identify a safe entry point for heavy equipment

Choose an unloading point near the main entrance and verify that heavy equipment can be lifted to upper floors via lift or wide stairs.

  3. 3

Coordinate with production management before the visit

Inform the factory manager or maintenance supervisor of the technical survey time to ensure safe access and avoid disrupting production lines.

FAQ

Questions about Factory HVAC

Can you cool just the worker zones without cooling the whole factory?

Yes, and we do it often. We design spot cooling for workstations or worker walkways using independent units or directed duct runs, rather than trying to cool the entire building volume. The right approach depends on the site and the process, and the survey decides it.

How do you handle heavy industrial dust in Jeddah?

We select units with a protection rating suited to the industrial environment and route airflow away from dust sources where the layout allows. In scheduled maintenance we inspect and clean coils, compressors and filters before deposits build up and affect unit performance.

Do you fabricate the large ducts a factory needs?

Yes, in our own workshop we fabricate round and rectangular duct to any size the design calls for, from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, including plenums, transitions and dampers needed to control air distribution.

Can you do maintenance between production shifts?

Yes, when we set up the preventive maintenance contract we agree times that fit your production schedule, whether between shifts or on rest days. The aim is that production lines are never stopped because of maintenance work.

What is the difference between process ventilation and worker-zone air conditioning?

Process ventilation targets heat and fumes produced by machinery and production lines, using exhaust fans and calculated fresh-air inlets sized to the heat load at each source. Worker-zone air conditioning aims to maintain a tolerable temperature at floor level without cooling the full volume of the building. A site survey of each factory decides which approach fits each area.

How do we cool a clothing factory spread over 5 floors?

We design a central system with cool air distributed via ducts to each floor, or use separate cooling units per floor depending on its size and needs. The choice depends on building layout and budget.

Does moisture from clothing dyeing affect cooling, how do we manage it?

We select units with high dehumidification capacity and set up a strong water-drainage system to remove excess moisture. We may add supplemental dehumidifiers in high-humidity zones.

Al Wurud's streets are narrow, how do you bring in large cooling units?

We coordinate with the factory manager to identify the best access route and unloading point. If needed, we transport unit components separately or use lifting equipment to reach upper floors.

How often should we clean cooling filters in a textile factory?

Fibre and dust from textiles clog filters quickly. We recommend weekly inspection and replacement every one to two months depending on production intensity. A regular maintenance contract keeps the system running efficiently.
