When your fridge needs attention
- 1
Fridge not cooling or cooling poorly
Food does not stay cold, or the top compartment is fine and the bottom is not, or the reverse. The cause could be the thermostat, the fan or the compressor; only an on-site check will find the actual fault.
- 2
Frost building up or water leaking
A thick layer of ice on the inner wall, or puddles under the fridge every day, usually points to a fault in the defrost cycle or a blocked condensate drain. Jeddah's high humidity makes these faults worse if left.
- 3
Unusual noises or a worn door seal
A clicking or steady hum can come from the evaporator fan or from a compressor working harder than it should. A cracked or loose door seal lets warm air in constantly, straining the unit and raising your electricity bill without showing an obvious fault.
Who it's for
Your older fridge is making strange noises
We test the compressor and fan in place, assess the full condition of the unit, and tell you honestly whether repair is worthwhile or replacement saves more in the long run.
Ask on WhatsAppYour newer fridge has suddenly stopped cooling
We diagnose the fault on site and identify whether the thermostat, the cooling cycle or another component has failed, then carry out the repair in the same visit when possible.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Describe the fault
WhatsApp a description of the fault, a photo of the fridge's data plate and your district, so the technician arrives prepared with the most likely parts and tools.
- 2
On-site diagnosis
The technician checks the fridge where it stands: measures compressor performance, tests the thermostat, fan and defrost cycle, and identifies the actual part that has failed.
- 3
Honest call, then your decision
We explain exactly what we found and weigh the repair cost against the age of the unit, so you decide with full information and no pressure from us.
- 4
Repair and retest
We carry out the repair on site, then run the fridge and confirm the compartment temperature returns to the correct level before leaving your home.
Accurate diagnosis or a rushed guess?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Finding the fault | Systematic check of every part | Parts swapped by guesswork |
| Defrost cycle | Tested with instruments | Often overlooked |
| Door seal | Checked every visit | Missed until fully failed |
| Repair decision | Honest, based on unit age | Repair without weighing value |
| Salt and humidity | Considered when checking coils and connections | Not taken into account |

What sets this district apart
Al Rughamah is a developing residential area on Jeddah's eastern edge, with scattered villas and some new apartment blocks in an arid, very hot desert environment with very fine dust and generally low humidity. This environment puts severe strain on fridge and freezer cooling systems because the gap between outside and inside temperatures is extreme. Condensers clog quickly from fine dust, evaporators may freeze due to humidity swings, and drain lines may leak from sudden temperature shifts.
Al Rughamah is on Jeddah's eastern edge, a growing residential area in the desert with scattered villas and apartment blocks in very intense heat.
Most fridges and freezers here are household units, usually placed in open or outdoor kitchens because of the dispersed building pattern and desire for outdoor living space.
The AC setup in Al Rughamah (Abraq Al Rughamah)
- 1
Household fridges in outdoor or semi-outdoor kitchens
Most Al Rughamah homes have fridges in outdoor or semi-outdoor kitchens because of preference for outdoor space and wide plots, increasing the unit's exposure to heat and dust.
- 2
Extra chest freezers for long-term storage
Families in Al Rughamah often own an additional chest freezer in a utility room or outdoor space for long-term food storage because of the distance from markets and intense heat.
- 3
Built-in fridges in new apartment blocks
Some newer apartment blocks have built-in fridges, but ventilation may be limited because of modern kitchen design and the extreme outside heat.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Al Rughamah (Abraq Al Rughamah)
- 1
Clear ample space around the fridge
Make sure there is at least 20 cm clearance on all sides and the rear of the fridge for strong ventilation, and remove any obstructions or stored items next to it.
- 2
Switch off the fridge well before the visit
Switch off the fridge at least two to three hours before the team arrives to cool the coils and allow safe, easy inspection of the evaporator and condenser.
- 3
Tell us about outdoor or semi-outdoor kitchen setup
Tell us if the fridge is in an outdoor or semi-outdoor kitchen and whether there is sun or dust protection, because this affects our maintenance and cleaning plan.

FAQ
Questions about Fridge & freezer service
My fridge cools at the top but the bottom drawer is warm; what causes that?
In fridges with a back-wall evaporator, the air-circulation fan may have stopped or be blocked by ice, so cold air reaches the top shelf but does not spread down. The thermostat position or a blocked air duct can also cause this. The technician identifies the real cause on site because the answer varies by model.
Does frost building up inside mean the fridge needs regassing?
Usually not. Frost build-up most often points to a fault in the automatic defrost cycle, such as the defrost heater, timer or thermal fuse, not a low refrigerant charge. A low charge shows as weak cooling and a hot compressor, not frost. The on-site check tells the difference clearly.
Do I need to empty the fridge before the technician arrives?
Many faults, including the fan, thermostat, drain and door seal, are fixed without emptying or moving the fridge. When a forced defrost is needed we ask you to move food off the shelves temporarily. We let you know this when we book the visit so you are ready.
When does replacing the fridge make more sense than repairing it?
There is no single rule that fits every unit, but we weigh the fridge's age, the cost and availability of the needed part, and the condition of the rest of the unit. If our technician judges that the repair cost does not justify the remaining life of the fridge, he says so clearly before any work begins.
Does Jeddah's intense heat affect how a home fridge performs?
Yes. A fridge is designed to work within a set ambient temperature range. When placed in a poorly ventilated kitchen or near a heat source, the compressor works harder than it was built for. This speeds up wear and raises electricity consumption. The technician checks the unit's position and the room ventilation as part of the diagnosis.
The fridge does not cool well enough in this desert heat, what is the cause?
Severe desert heat puts huge strain on the compressor and condenser, especially if the coils are clogged with fine dust. We inspect the coils and compressor and make sure ventilation around the fridge is adequate to carry away hot air.
Does variable humidity affect the fridge's performance?
Yes, humidity swings from night to day can cause the evaporator to freeze or the drain pan to overflow. We check humidity sensors and drainage, and recommend better kitchen ventilation to regulate humidity.
Water leaks from under the fridge mainly in the afternoon, why?
Sharp swings between outside and inside temperatures in the desert may cause drain lines to expand and leak. We inspect the lines and pan, clear blockages, and may suggest replacing the drain line if damage is evident.
The fridge makes more noise than usual, does the heat affect the compressor?
Yes, the compressor works much harder in intense heat and may make more noise than normal. If the noise is sharp or persistent, there may be a fault in the compressor or oil. We inspect it and tell you whether it needs repair or replacement.
