When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Ghadeer is a modern residential district with mid-rise buildings hosting medium-sized hospitals, large clinics, pharmacies and labs. The predominantly residential character means most patients live nearby, so departments run steadily and need continuous, reliable cooling. Modern construction and regular layouts permit central systems to be installed easily, but high residential density calls for careful coordination during maintenance to avoid disturbing surrounding neighbourhoods.

Al Ghadeer is in modern north Jeddah, a residential district with mid-size hospitals and private clinics distributed among housing blocks.

Most hospitals and large clinics in Al Ghadeer use central cooling systems with chillers and air distribution, with outdoor units on roofs or building courtyards.

The AC setup in Al Ghadeer

  1. 1

    Central chillers on hospital roofs

Most hospitals in Al Ghadeer mount chillers on the roof, distributing chilled water to building floors via insulated piping.

  2. 2

    Air-handling units on each floor

Each floor has a handling unit drawing chilled water from the chiller, cooling indoor air and distributing it through ducts.

  3. 3

Smart control system per medical department

Each department may have a control panel allowing temperature and humidity adjustment to its needs, linked to a central monitor tracking overall performance.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Ghadeer

  1. 1

Obtain hospital management approval for service timing

Before the visit, notify management of service time and ensure it does not clash with scheduled operations or expected medical emergencies.

  2. 2

Confirm safe roof and chiller access

Inspect the roof and routes to the chiller, and confirm they are safe and clear of obstructions before the visit day.

  3. 3

Notify medical departments of planned maintenance timing

Send advance notice to affected departments so they are prepared for any minor temperature fluctuation during work.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

The hospital is surrounded by housing, how do you avoid disturbing neighbours during service?

We schedule maintenance outside residential quiet hours, and minimise noise and activity near outdoor units adjoining housing.

Can central chiller systems handle varying loads between different medical departments?

Yes, central systems are equipped with valves and smart controls allowing chilled water at different temperatures to each department according to its needs.

Al Ghadeer has high humidity, does it affect central cooling efficiency?

Yes, high humidity increases evaporative load on chillers. We select chillers with adequate capacity and monitor condenser performance regularly for high efficiency.

How often should central chiller maintenance be scheduled yearly?

Chiller maintenance depends on running hours and load. We typically recommend thorough inspection twice yearly and routine maintenance every three months to keep performance and reliability high.
