When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Basateen's buildings are modern and regularly distributed with generous space, allowing efficient central cooling systems. High summer heat and moderate humidity demand strong, adequate cooling with good air filtration. Clinics, labs and sensitive rooms need independent controls to maintain specific temperatures and humidity, and routine maintenance ensures efficiency and reliability.

Al Basateen is in north Jeddah, a modern district with regular medical facilities and orderly layout.

Medical centres in Al Basateen use mid-to-high capacity central cooling with separate control units for each department.

The AC setup in Al Basateen

  1. 1

    Mid-to-high capacity central cooling

Al Basateen's space and regular layout support a strong central system covering all departments efficiently and with good balance.

  2. 2

Separate dehumidifiers for labs and sensitive rooms

Labs and rooms requiring very low humidity get dedicated dehumidifiers with independent control from the rest of the medical centre.

  3. 3

    Advanced air filtration system

Multi-stage high-efficiency filters ensure air quality across all medical and sensitive departments.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Basateen

  1. 1

Full survey of all centre departments

We visit all clinics, labs and departments to understand the layout and specific needs of each area before design.

  2. 2

Define temperature and humidity needs for each department

Speaking with centre owners and doctors about each department's needs helps select appropriate systems and components for medical requirements.

  3. 3

    Check outdoor space for units

Assess available roof and courtyard space for safe and efficient installation of outdoor units and condensers.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Clinics vary in size, how do you balance cooling between them?

We design flexible distribution systems with separate controls in each clinic, allowing independent adjustment of temperature and air flow to suit each area.

Labs need low humidity but regular clinics don't, how do you manage this?

We install separate dehumidifiers in labs and sensitive rooms with independent control from the rest of the centre, giving flexibility in humidity management per zone.

Summer heat is intense, can a standard system handle the load?

We select cooling capacity adequate for intense summer conditions, and design with a safe margin to ensure continuous performance without weakening at peak heat.

How much is lost in ducts and distribution, is there a defined efficiency?

It depends on duct length and building insulation, and we calculate losses precisely, designing adequate capacity to compensate, with periodic checks for air leaks.
