When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Rabiyah is a medium-growth area with medium-sized hospitals and specialist clinics surrounded by residential blocks. The medical buildings here are newer than other districts but spread over a wider area, meaning longer AC runs and more branches. Intense heat and coastal humidity make balanced distribution control and regular filter and compressor maintenance essential for stable operation.

Al Rabiyah is in south Jeddah, a district of hospitals and specialist clinics spread over relatively open space.

Most Al Rabiyah hospitals use central HVAC with multiple branches serving separate departments and outdoor units on roofs.

The AC setup in Al Rabiyah

  1. 1

Central system with separate branches per department

Al Rabiyah hospitals use a central air network with independent branches for each clinical department and isolation dampers.

  2. 2

    Outdoor units on elevated roofs

Outdoor units mount on high hospital roofs to avoid direct exposure to surrounding humidity.

  3. 3

Balance dampers for even air distribution

Long branches need precise balance dampers to ensure equal cold air reaches all departments.

Before the visit

  1. 1

    Specify department isolation points

Show us a diagram of which departments are on which branches and where the isolation dampers are located.

  2. 2

    Confirm roof access for condensers

Check that roofs are safe and accessible for the team to move freely around outdoor units.

  3. 3

Prepare past maintenance logs and known issues

Provide us with past maintenance logs and any issues previously reported in specific branches or departments.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

The hospital is spread over a wide area, how do you ensure even distribution?

We measure air pressure and flow in each branch and balance the dampers to equalise delivery between distant and close departments from the plant room.

Intense heat reduces compressor efficiency, how do you maintain it?

We check the compressor and condenser every two months, clean the condenser of salt and dust, and monitor cooling levels and pressures regularly.

Can you service one department without affecting the others?

Yes, Al Rabiyah's departments are on separate branches, so we can service one without stopping the rest of the network.

AC runs are long, are there electrical concerns?

That depends on the current circuit capacity. We inspect wires and connections on the first visit to ensure they can handle full current.
