When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.
Ask on WhatsAppManaging an existing commercial complex
We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.
Designed for the space or just fitted?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Air distribution | Load study per zone | One unit for the whole space |
| Ductwork | G90 sheet, sized for the job | Off-the-shelf wrong size |
| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
Al Rabiyah is a relatively modern district with large malls, spacious commercial buildings and street-facing shops, backed by large car parks exposed to direct sun. This design raises the thermal load on the HVAC system because warm outside air enters repeatedly through doors, strong lighting runs constantly and crowds vary through the day. The right system design balances coverage across different zones within the mall and keeps energy use efficient, while preventing moisture seeping into storage or service areas.
Al Rabiyah lies in south Jeddah, a modern urban district of large malls and diverse retail spread along main roads.
Most malls and larger shops here rely on central AC systems with big compressors and wide ductwork, or multiple split units depending on floor area.
The AC setup in Al Rabiyah
- 1
Central AC system with large compressor and distribution ducts
Large malls here need a powerful central system that distributes cool air through ducts to all zones, with the ability to adjust temperature as load changes.
- 2
Multiple split units for separate shops
Smaller shops and retail buildings in Al Rabiyah typically use separate split units per shop or floor, giving independent control and ease of operation.
- 3
Air handling system with precise humidity control
Storage and service areas need advanced humidity control units to protect goods from daily moisture swings.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Al Rabiyah
- 1
Confirm parking access for the team
Malls are large and parking may be restricted, so agree with us on a clear parking spot and alert mall security to the visit time in advance.
- 2
Coordinate with mall management on visit timing
Pick a time outside peak shopping hours if possible, and alert management so the team is welcomed and access routes are clear.
- 3
Pinpoint the outdoor unit and drain location
Confirm where the outdoor unit is mounted on the roof or outer wall, ensure the team can reach it safely, and check that drain lines are free from leaks.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
The mall's glass doors open constantly, does the AC struggle?
Yes, warm outside air entering repeatedly raises the load sharply. The right system is sized to match this demand and distributed to balance the cold air loss at the entrance.
The big exposed car park above sits on tarmac, how does that affect the AC below?
Tarmac absorbs heat and raises air temperature around the roof, increasing AC pressure. Placing the outdoor unit in partial shade and adding roof insulation can ease the strain.
Stock in the back room is moisture-sensitive, how do we keep it dry?
We ensure the AC drain and floor drainage work efficiently, and select units with precise humidity control to protect stock.
When is the best time to service the system without closing the mall?
System maintenance is usually scheduled after the mall closes or during quiet early morning hours. We coordinate with mall management to pick a time that does not affect shoppers.
