When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

The hospitals in Prince Fawaz South are relatively modern, spread across multi-storey buildings with wide spaces, and need complex central cooling systems covering departments from intensive care to general wards and clinics. Each section has different temperature, humidity and airflow needs, so any failure in the ducts or control equipment can affect patient and staff safety. Routine maintenance and deep duct and equipment cleaning are critical to prevent infection and meet the hospital's strict standards.

Prince Fawaz South is in southern Jeddah, a modern residential and medical district with several hospitals and medical centres.

Most hospitals here run multi-zone central cooling with large outdoor units and dedicated humidity-control equipment.

The AC setup in Prince Fawaz South

  1. 1

Multi-zone central system with separate controls

Modern hospitals here use a central system that distributes cooled and treated air to different departments, with separate temperature controls for each section.

  2. 2

Humidity removal and air purification equipment

Sensitive departments like surgery and intensive care need additional equipment for humidity removal and mechanical filtration, common in modern hospitals here due to coastal moisture.

  3. 3

Large outdoor units on roof or building side

High thermal loads in hospitals require powerful outdoor units, usually roof-mounted or building-side with space for maintenance.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Prince Fawaz South

  1. 1

Coordinate the visit time with hospital management and affected departments

The hospital operates on a fixed schedule and certain departments may be at peak times, so ensure management and the relevant department agree on the inspection or maintenance time.

  2. 2

Ensure safe access to outdoor equipment and duct locations

Our team needs safe access to the roof, outdoor units and main ducts, so confirm there are no obstacles and obtain security clearance for entry.

  3. 3

Prepare a list of each department's temperature and humidity requirements

Different departments may have different standards, so prepare a list of requirements for intensive care, surgery and general wards so our team understands the exact specifications.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Can you maintain the system without closing hospital departments?

Yes, we schedule routine maintenance during low-pressure periods and coordinate with the hospital management to ensure departments stay open. Emergency repairs are handled quickly to minimise disruption to patients and staff.

Dust and humidity affect central cooling systems, how do you handle them?

Southern Jeddah's coastal humidity is high, so we deep-clean ducts and coils regularly, replace filters according to each department's needs, and sanitise the evaporator coil to prevent mould and bacterial growth.

Surgical wards need precise temperature and humidity balance, how do you ensure it?

We design the system and install professional humidity sensors and controls for each surgical suite, monitor them continuously, and correct any deviation immediately.

Large outdoor units need secure rooftop or building-side space, is that available?

We survey the building and confirm the roof or side space can handle the load, and we coordinate with the hospital on secure installation and regular maintenance access.
