When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Sanabel is a modern southern district with hospitals and health centres surrounded by residential and commercial buildings, located near the coast in an extremely hot and humid year-round climate. Cooling system stress is continuously high here because the outdoor-indoor temperature gap is very large, and humidity causes rapid metal and coil deterioration. Intensive preventive maintenance and regular frequent cleaning are essential to preserve system efficiency and patient and staff safety.

Al Sanabel is in southern Jeddah on the coast, a modern district with hospitals and clinics in an extremely hot and humid coastal environment.

Most Al Sanabel hospitals run high-capacity central chilled-water systems with high corrosion and salt resistance.

The AC setup in Al Sanabel

  1. 1

    High-capacity, protected central chilled-water system

Large Al Sanabel hospitals use very powerful chillers with special coatings and design to resist coastal salt and humidity.

  2. 2

    Insulated and humidity-protected ductwork

Central ductwork is heavily insulated and wrapped with moisture protection to prevent rapid mould formation.

  3. 3

Continuous temperature and humidity monitoring devices

Operating theatres and intensive care units are equipped with continuous monitoring for instant alerts if any parameter drifts outside safe limits.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Sanabel

  1. 1

Prepare a quarterly maintenance schedule for the year

We recommend setting regular maintenance dates every three months, with special priority for the hot, humid summer months.

  2. 2

Provide safe access to roofs and outdoor units

Confirm roofs, balconies and outdoor areas with equipment are safe and easily accessible with full safety provisions.

  3. 3

Provide records of previous faults and maintenance

Provide complete history of faults, repairs and recurring issues, especially involving corrosion and moisture, so we can focus on the most stressed areas.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

The coastal climate causes rapid corrosion, how do you protect outdoor units from salt?

We clean outdoor units regularly from sea spray and salts, use high-quality salt-resistant protective coatings, and inspect fans and condensers monthly for wear signs.

Coastal humidity creates mould quickly, how do you maintain clean indoor air?

We clean evaporator coils and filters almost weekly during summer, inspect ducts and fans for mould, and install high-efficiency filters and antimicrobial agents as needed.

Extreme summer heat makes the AC run at maximum load, is there a failure risk?

Yes, compressors and chillers can fail under continuous high stress. We recommend quarterly maintenance contracts in Al Sanabel, and test compressors, oil and refrigerant immediately before summer season.

We want a maintenance contract suited to Al Sanabel's specific conditions, what do you recommend?

We recommend a comprehensive contract including monthly inspections especially in summer, intensive coil and filter cleaning, compressor and refrigerant testing, salt and corrosion protection, and detailed reports after each visit.
