When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Radwa is a relatively modern neighbourhood expanding east and north, with several hospitals and specialist clinics alongside tall residential blocks. The newer character means most hospitals have modern, efficient cooling systems, but continuous maintenance is essential because high temperatures and dust increase chiller load. Coordinating with hospital administration and safe equipment placement require careful planning.

Radwa lies in north-east Jeddah, a modern expanding district with medical and tall residential buildings.

Hospitals in Radwa are equipped with modern central cooling systems with high-efficiency chillers and optimized air distribution.

The AC setup in Radwa

  1. 1

Central system with one or more chillers

Modern hospitals in Radwa use high-efficiency chillers, either single or multiple depending on building size and departments.

  2. 2

Optimized ductwork with smart control systems

Modern systems in Radwa include optimized ductwork and new automatic controls that distribute cooling precisely to each department.

  3. 3

    Multi-stage advanced air filtration

Modern air conditioning systems use multi-stage filters to protect chillers and ductwork from dust and contaminants.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Radwa

  1. 1

Obtain the latest technical system drawings

Request the hospital's latest technical drawings showing chiller locations, ductwork and air handler positions to speed up assessment and planning.

  2. 2

Coordinate with the hospital's maintenance team

Speak with the hospital's maintenance team before the visit to understand working schedules, past issues and the best maintenance times.

  3. 3

Confirm safe access to roofs and equipment areas

Verify that routes, stairs and roofs are safe to access chillers and outdoor units, and floors are strong enough to bear the team and equipment weight.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Our hospital is new, can you work with modern cooling technology?

Yes, we design and coordinate modern cooling systems with high-efficiency chillers and smart controls, and provide regular maintenance while keeping current with technical developments.

Does dust in the air affect chillers and ductwork?

Yes, dust and particles can accumulate in system filters and reduce cooling efficiency, so we recommend cleaning or changing filters monthly or as needed during dusty seasons.

Our operating theatres need precise temperature and humidity control, how do you deliver that?

We use central cooling with high-efficiency chillers and automatic controls that monitor temperature and humidity precisely, with regular scheduled maintenance to ensure continuous performance.

Our hospital's outdoor space is limited, is there a problem installing equipment?

We check available spaces and safe roofing before the visit, and choose the best location for outdoor units and electrical equipment that does not affect building safety or medical operations.
