When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Ajawid is a rapidly growing area in south Jeddah, mixing residential buildings with retail shops of varying sizes and types. Buildings here are mixed: some relatively new, some older, with varying ceiling heights. Heat is high and humidity is noticeable, and the system must be flexible to accommodate ongoing expansions and upgrades. Regular maintenance is essential because some equipment may be older and parts may need quick replacement.

Al Ajawid lies in south Jeddah, a rapidly developing district with mixed residential buildings and retail shops.

Most shops here use separate split units or simple semi-central systems because building sizes vary and the area is still developing.

The AC setup in Al Ajawid

  1. 1

    Independent or dual split units

Diverse shops in Al Ajawid use single or dual split units for ease of installation, maintenance and replacement.

  2. 2

    Semi-central systems for larger retail

Larger shops and small malls need semi-central systems with simple ducting to suit varying ceiling heights.

  3. 3

    Older units requiring gradual replacement

Some older shops run aging equipment needing frequent maintenance. We focus on phased replacement of main units while maintaining others.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Ajawid

  1. 1

Identify outdoor unit location and available space

Tell us where the outdoor unit will go (roof or side wall), how much clear space there is around it, and any obstacles like wires or pipes.

  2. 2

Coordinate with the shop owner on visit time and closure

Shops are always busy, so set a time that suits trading hours or a brief closure period.

  3. 3

Check old electrical wiring and connections

If wiring is very old or connections are weak, have a licensed electrician inspect before our visit to avoid delays.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

The area is developing fast with new buildings constantly going up, can the AC system be expanded later?

Yes, we install flexible systems that allow adding units or extending ducts as needed. During design, we account for future growth plans and leave room for expansion.

Some older shops here, can they be upgraded affordably?

Yes, we assess the old system and focus on replacing core equipment while reusing sound ducting. This cuts costs and minimises downtime.

The air in the shop seems humid and water pools on the floor, what causes this?

Poor drainage or an undersized indoor unit can cause this. We select a unit with better drain capacity, install ducts with correct slopes, and clean the pan regularly.

The shop's power is old and sometimes cuts out, is the AC safe?

Frequent power cuts can damage equipment. We install units with strong electrical protection against voltage fluctuations, and recommend you have a licensed electrician check the circuit before installation.
