When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Marwah sits between old downtown and the northern districts, with mid-sized malls and shops in buildings with moderate ceiling heights and mixed facades. Heat here is intense, especially on peak summer days and during busy trading seasons, so the system must have enough cooling power to handle rising customer numbers and frequent door openings. Preventive maintenance is essential to stop equipment failure during busy trading times, and ducts need regular cleaning, particularly if the building has undergone recent expansions or renovations.

Al Marwah sits in central Jeddah, between old downtown and modern districts, a mixed area of medium-sized shops and malls.

Most shops and malls here use semi-central systems or multiple split units because the building spaces and sizes vary widely.

The AC setup in Al Marwah

  1. 1

Semi-central system with moderate ceiling heights

Mid-range buildings in Al Marwah can take a semi-central system with simple ducting in moderate ceilings, at lower cost than a full central system.

  2. 2

Multiple split units in smaller shops

Smaller and specialist shops in Al Marwah rely on separate split units for ease of maintenance and replacement.

  3. 3

    Sun-exposed roofs for outdoor units

Most outdoor units sit on sun-exposed roofs, so we choose high-rating equipment and add sun shading to limit direct exposure.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Marwah

  1. 1

Assess available space for the outdoor unit

Before the visit, tell us whether the roof or side wall is available, how much clear space there is, and any obstacles like power lines, neighbouring structures or stored items.

  2. 2

Coordinate with the shop owner on installation timing

Installation takes several hours and may involve noise and activity around the shop. Agree with us on a time that suits the shop's opening hours or a brief closure.

  3. 3

Check electrical supply and current capacity

Check your main electrical isolator and available capacity for the system. Let us know if electrical upgrade is needed before installation day.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

Temperatures in Al Marwah are very high, does the AC system need higher cooling capacity than other areas?

Yes, Al Marwah experiences intense heat, particularly from noon to 6 pm. We choose above-average cooling capacity, taking into account the number of entrances and expected customer numbers during peak hours.

Our shops have narrow frontages on the main street, is it difficult to place the outdoor unit?

Main streets in Al Marwah are busy and tight, so we focus on using rooftops or the building's side walls. Before installation, we assess available space and choose the best location that does not obstruct pedestrian traffic or deliveries.

Jeddah's humidity and heat near the shop entrance cause water pooling on the floor, what's the answer?

Poor drainage from the system causes pooling. We choose indoor units with larger drain pans, install ducting with correct slopes for efficient drainage, and clean the drain pan regularly.

Our plot is tight and the system is old, can we upgrade it without major disruption?

Yes, we assess the current system and whether parts of the existing ducting can be reused if intact. We focus on replacing main units and cleaning ducts to maintain efficiency while minimising downtime.
