When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Mawaddah is a mixed eastern district blending relatively older residential buildings with ground-floor shops and newer structures. Shops are typically small to medium, using splits or window units under light central systems. Relative humidity is higher because of indirect coastal proximity, and dust varies by season and wind. Regular maintenance and cleaning are essential to prevent mould and dust building up in filters and ducts.

Al Mawaddah sits in east Jeddah, a mixed district of varied building ages with shops and services on local roads.

Al Mawaddah shops mostly run separate split units, with fewer central systems because of the varied building types and mixed building ages.

The AC setup in Al Mawaddah

  1. 1

    Separate split per shop

Most Al Mawaddah shops have completely separate split units, allowing each owner full control over temperature.

  2. 2

Window units in older small shops

Some small older shops in Al Mawaddah still rely on window units, mainly for low cost and quick installation.

  3. 3

Simple central AC for closely spaced buildings

In some closely spaced Al Mawaddah buildings, a simple central system might serve multiple shops, but separate splits are far more common.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Mawaddah

  1. 1

Confirm electrical safety in the shop and building

Older Al Mawaddah buildings may have old or unsafe wiring. Check the condition before we arrive and let us know of any issues you spot.

  2. 2

Confirm outdoor unit location or available space

If there is an existing outdoor unit, tell us its location. If you want a new one, clarify available space on the façade, balcony or roof.

  3. 3

Schedule the visit away from peak trading hours

Most Al Mawaddah shops trade busy hours. Choose early morning or late evening to minimise disruption to trading.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

Humidity is high and mould appears quickly in the AC, how do we prevent it?

High humidity speeds mould growth in the drain pan and ducts. We recommend regular drain-pan cleaning and periodic duct checks, and ensure the AC drain stays clear to prevent water pooling.

The shop is older and the surrounding buildings vary in age, does that affect AC choice?

Mixed and older buildings may have limited electrical or structural infrastructure. An initial inspection helps us understand wiring, insulation and available space before recommending the right unit.

Dust in Al Mawaddah is seasonal, do we need more maintenance in certain seasons?

Yes, dry and windy seasons bring more dust in the air. We recommend cleaning the filter and condenser monthly or every two months during those seasons, with less need in calmer periods.

The building has several shops and each wants its own unit, can we do that?

Yes, each shop can have its own separate split unit. The number depends on the shop count and space for outdoor units. Send us a photo of the building and shops on WhatsApp and we will suggest the best plan.
