When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Quba is a relatively modern district with expansive malls and retail units across multiple floors, featuring large glass facades that absorb intense sun all day, particularly on the east and south sides. HVAC systems here need strong capacity to handle fluctuating thermal loads, with safe condensate drainage away from display and stock areas. Coordination with mall management during installation and maintenance is essential to keep trading uninterrupted.

Quba lies in north-east Jeddah, a district of modern malls and retail developments set across wide open plots.

Most large malls and retail units in Quba use central HVAC systems with distributed ductwork across floors, served by powerful outdoor units on the roofs.

The AC setup in Quba

  1. 1

Central system with multiple distribution ducts

Quba's large malls and retail units benefit from central systems with distribution ducts on each floor to ensure even cool-air distribution.

  2. 2

    Outdoor units on elevated roofs

The elevated roofs of malls provide ample space and do not obstruct ground-level traffic, allowing better heat rejection from the outdoor units.

  3. 3

    Smart, controllable air-handling units

Modern retail in Quba uses variable-speed air handlers that adjust to fluctuating thermal loads throughout the day's trading cycles.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Quba

  1. 1

Coordinate with mall management for roof and equipment access

Confirm with mall management the visit time and access to the roof and mechanical rooms, and advise them of the equipment size needed.

  2. 2

Identify drainage points away from display areas

Identify condensate routes in advance with management to ensure they avoid goods and customer traffic.

  3. 3

Verify electrical capacity for new outdoor units

Malls may need upgraded electrical connections if new units are more powerful; verify this before beginning installation.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

Do retail units with large glass fronts need extra cooling capacity?

Yes, glass significantly increases thermal load, especially on sun-facing sides. We size the capacity based on the glass area, façade direction and indoor lighting.

Mall management wants maintenance without disrupting trading hours, how do you handle that?

We coordinate with management to schedule routine maintenance during closing time or quieter hours, and provide a clear schedule in advance for each job.

Quba's eastern exposure is very hot, does that affect outdoor unit selection?

Yes, intense heat requires higher-capacity outdoor units with efficient heat rejection. We select well-shaded or better-ventilated roof positions when possible.

Condensate drainage from AC units is causing issues near displayed goods, what's the solution?

We install separate drainage lines with appropriately sized pipes that route water away from display areas, with regular checks to keep them clear.
