When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Thuwal is a remote coastal area in Jeddah's far north experiencing recent commercial growth with newer malls and retail shops. The coastal location means high humidity, salty winds and extreme day-night temperature swings. These conditions accelerate corrosion of cooling components and outdoor units, requiring salt-resistant materials and frequent maintenance. Shops may be less densely packed than older districts, offering easier access but potentially longer travel times to reach them.

Thuwal sits on the coast in Jeddah's far north, a newly growing coastal district with modern malls and retail facing continuous sea exposure.

Outdoor cooling units in Thuwal face coastal humidity and salt, requiring corrosion-resistant materials such as aluminium and stainless steel.

The AC setup in Thuwal

  1. 1

    Cooling units with salt-resistant materials

Malls and shops in Thuwal use cooling units made from salt-corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel.

  2. 2

    Humidity-isolated cooling systems

Designs focus on insulating outdoor units from coastal humidity using protective enclosures and enhanced drainage.

  3. 3

    Frequent preventive maintenance schedule

Shops and malls in Thuwal require servicing every two months to combat corrosion and leaks.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Thuwal

  1. 1

Ensure fresh water is available for flushing

Maintenance in Thuwal requires plenty of fresh water to flush outdoor units; confirm a water source is near the service location.

  2. 2

Coordinate access timing to avoid crowds

Since malls and shops in Thuwal may be distant from central Jeddah, we need good coordination with management on visit timing.

  3. 3

Check current unit mounting for safety

Strong coastal winds mean the current mounting of outdoor units should be checked for safety before the visit.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

How does salty sea air affect the air conditioning units?

Salt and coastal humidity accelerate metal corrosion, so we use salt-resistant materials and recommend flushing outdoor units monthly with fresh water.

Do strong coastal winds affect the outdoor units?

Yes, strong winds in Thuwal can affect unit stability, so we ensure robust and secure mounting and inspect fixtures regularly.

Do the extreme day-night temperature swings require special servicing?

Coastal temperature swings put extra stress on components, so we recommend servicing every two months to check pressures, fluids and leaks.

How often should filters and outdoor units be cleaned in Thuwal?

The coastal environment requires filter cleaning every month and outdoor unit flushing monthly too to remove salts and moisture.
