Split AC installation in Al Ammariyah

Split AC installation in Al Ammariyah, central Jeddah, needs careful planning to route copper and drain lines between closely packed flats. Alrabih's team evacuates and cleans the line before start-up for quiet, reliable cooling in the city's dense blocks.

When you need a proper installer

  1. 1

A new unit for a room or flat

You have bought the unit, or are about to, and want it fitted once, not to find a refrigerant leak or water on the floor a few weeks later. Getting it right first time saves you all of that.

  2. 2

Not sure where the outdoor unit goes

In Jeddah flats the choice is usually the roof, the balcony or the facade. We pick a spot where the condenser gets enough air, a technician can reach it for servicing, and neither noise nor drain water bothers the neighbours.

  3. 3

A past install that went wrong

Weak cooling since day one, water running down the wall, a loud indoor unit. These are usually installation mistakes, not faults in the unit, and our installation is built step by step to avoid them.

Who it's for

  • Moving into a new flat that needs AC

We plan every unit position and copper route in one go, so the whole flat ends up neat and consistent.

    Ask on WhatsApp
  • Fitting AC in a shop or office

We place the units so cool air reaches the entrance and the work area, and arrange outdoor units and drains to suit the shopfront and the building's rules.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the room, where the outdoor unit might go and your district, and we tell you what the job needs before the visit.

  2. 2

    Agree positions and route

On site, the technician agrees the unit positions and the copper and drain route with you before drilling any wall.

  3. 3

    Fit and vacuum

We mount both units, run and insulate the copper, then vacuum the line with a pump and check the joints before releasing the refrigerant held in the outdoor unit.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, measure the air coming out, check the drain flows, then leave the room clean and show you the remote and how to clean the filter.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Ammariyah is a central residential area with mid-rise apartment buildings and closely packed flats, narrow gaps between blocks and limited street width. Running copper and drain lines through the shared walls of adjacent flats requires coordination with the building management and neighbours to avoid piercing shared walls without permission. The tight outdoor spaces may limit options for the outdoor unit, which is often placed on small balconies or shared roofs.

Al Ammariyah lies in central Jeddah, a district of mid-rise apartment buildings with closely packed flats and narrow streets.

Most flats in Al Ammariyah rely on separate split units per dwelling, and outdoor units are usually mounted on shared balconies or building roofs.

The AC setup in Al Ammariyah

  1. 1

Separate split unit per flat in the building

Each flat in Al Ammariyah typically needs its own unit, with copper running along external walls or balconies.

  2. 2

Outdoor unit on shared balcony or roof

Limited outdoor space forces most units onto building roofs or shared balconies, requiring coordination with neighbours.

  3. 3

Protected copper routes on external facades

Copper and drain lines run carefully along external walls to avoid damage and preserve the building's appearance.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Ammariyah

  1. 1

Get building management approval in advance

Request written approval from building management for the outdoor unit location and planned copper route before the visit date.

  2. 2

Coordinate with neighbours about any shared wall drilling

Inform adjacent neighbours if shared walls must be drilled for the copper route.

  3. 3

Confirm adequate power in the designated circuit

Verify the capacity of the circuit dedicated to the split, and let us know if it is old or heavily loaded with other appliances.

FAQ

Questions about Split AC installation

Will you install a unit I bought elsewhere?

Yes, we install units you have bought yourself. Before the visit we ask the model, its capacity and where both units will go, so we know the copper length. If you have not bought one yet, we are an authorised distributor for Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold and can help you choose.

Why does the line need vacuuming before start-up?

New pipes hold air and moisture, and Jeddah's humid air adds more. Mixed with refrigerant, they weaken cooling and strain the compressor over time. We pull them out with a vacuum pump, watch that the reading holds so we know the line is tight, and only then release the refrigerant.

Can the outdoor unit be far from the room?

Yes, within the manufacturer's limits for line length and height difference. We use Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, so there are fewer joints that could leak, and the survey shows whether a long run needs extra refrigerant.

Can you hide the copper and cables in the wall?

It depends on the house. In a new build or during finishing works, the copper can run inside the wall before plastering. In a lived-in home we use neat plastic trunking in the wall colour. We show you the better option for your home at the survey, before any work starts.

What if the outside wall cannot carry the unit?

We check the wall before fixing anything, because some facades are clad in stone or panels that cannot take the weight. Then we set the unit on a floor stand on the roof or balcony, or on a bracket anchored to the concrete itself, not the cladding, so it does not shake loose.

Do I need building management approval before installing the split?

Yes, especially if the outdoor unit is on a shared balcony or roof, we advise getting written approval from management before any work starts.

My walls are shared with neighbours, how do you run the copper without damage?

We use safe routes on external walls or drill carefully in approved spots, and coordinate with neighbours if needed.

Does central Jeddah's heat and dust affect split performance?

Dust can clog the outdoor unit's filters, so we install a unit with a strong filter and recommend servicing every two months during the hot season.

The building's shared electricity, does it have enough capacity for the new split?

We check the overall capacity and individual circuits before installation, and consult with building management if we need to upgrade the power supply.
