Split AC installation in Al Kandarah

In Al Kandarah, central Jeddah, split installation varies between modern flats and villas, as the district mixes dense construction with older buildings. Alrabih's team adapts the installation method to the building type and carefully vacuums the line to ensure trouble-free cooling.

When you need a proper installer

  1. 1

A new unit for a room or flat

You have bought the unit, or are about to, and want it fitted once, not to find a refrigerant leak or water on the floor a few weeks later. Getting it right first time saves you all of that.

  2. 2

Not sure where the outdoor unit goes

In Jeddah flats the choice is usually the roof, the balcony or the facade. We pick a spot where the condenser gets enough air, a technician can reach it for servicing, and neither noise nor drain water bothers the neighbours.

  3. 3

A past install that went wrong

Weak cooling since day one, water running down the wall, a loud indoor unit. These are usually installation mistakes, not faults in the unit, and our installation is built step by step to avoid them.

Who it's for

  • Moving into a new flat that needs AC

We plan every unit position and copper route in one go, so the whole flat ends up neat and consistent.

    Ask on WhatsApp
  • Fitting AC in a shop or office

We place the units so cool air reaches the entrance and the work area, and arrange outdoor units and drains to suit the shopfront and the building's rules.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the room, where the outdoor unit might go and your district, and we tell you what the job needs before the visit.

  2. 2

    Agree positions and route

On site, the technician agrees the unit positions and the copper and drain route with you before drilling any wall.

  3. 3

    Fit and vacuum

We mount both units, run and insulate the copper, then vacuum the line with a pump and check the joints before releasing the refrigerant held in the outdoor unit.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, measure the air coming out, check the drain flows, then leave the room clean and show you the remote and how to clean the filter.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Kandarah is a transitional zone between downtown and the northern neighbourhoods, mixing relatively modern tower blocks with older villas built round courtyards. Modern buildings have strong roofs allowing easy outdoor unit mounting, but older villas need careful calculation for foundations and walls. Coastal humidity and intense summer heat make shaded placement of the outdoor unit essential, and coil cleaning every few months is necessary.

Al Kandarah is in central Jeddah, a transitional zone mixing modern apartment towers with older villas and some open spaces.

Modern towers use single split units on balconies, while older villas may need multiple units or minor structural adaptations.

The AC setup in Al Kandarah

  1. 1

    Modern tower: strong, safe balcony

Modern towers in Al Kandarah have strong balconies and roofs allowing fast, safe outdoor unit installation.

  2. 2

Old villa: walls may need assessment

Old villas may need wall inspection before fixing, and we may suggest extra support frames or ground-level bases.

  3. 3

Short to medium copper run depending on building layout

Modern buildings allow short runs, while old villas may need longer runs depending on the chosen room's position.

Before the visit

FAQ

Questions about Split AC installation

Will you install a unit I bought elsewhere?

Yes, we install units you have bought yourself. Before the visit we ask the model, its capacity and where both units will go, so we know the copper length. If you have not bought one yet, we are an authorised distributor for Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold and can help you choose.

Why does the line need vacuuming before start-up?

New pipes hold air and moisture, and Jeddah's humid air adds more. Mixed with refrigerant, they weaken cooling and strain the compressor over time. We pull them out with a vacuum pump, watch that the reading holds so we know the line is tight, and only then release the refrigerant.

Can the outdoor unit be far from the room?

Yes, within the manufacturer's limits for line length and height difference. We use Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, so there are fewer joints that could leak, and the survey shows whether a long run needs extra refrigerant.

Can you hide the copper and cables in the wall?

It depends on the house. In a new build or during finishing works, the copper can run inside the wall before plastering. In a lived-in home we use neat plastic trunking in the wall colour. We show you the better option for your home at the survey, before any work starts.

What if the outside wall cannot carry the unit?

We check the wall before fixing anything, because some facades are clad in stone or panels that cannot take the weight. Then we set the unit on a floor stand on the roof or balcony, or on a bracket anchored to the concrete itself, not the cladding, so it does not shake loose.

My old villa's walls, will they support the outdoor unit safely?

We inspect the wall and foundations before fixing. If the walls are weak, we suggest alternatives like a ground-level external bracket or extra support frame.

The area has high coastal humidity, does it harm the outdoor unit?

Yes, salt and humidity build up on the outdoor unit's metals. We choose a shaded, well-ventilated spot if possible, and recommend cleaning the coils every two to three months to prevent rust.

I want a split only in one room of my old villa, not the whole house, how do we choose the spot?

We pick a room with an external window or nearby balcony to simplify the copper run and drain. We avoid distant rooms to keep the pipe length short and cooling loss low.

The outdoor unit will be visible from the street, can we hide it?

Yes, we can mount it on a side wall away from the street or behind a low garden wall if space permits, ensuring the unit gets proper ventilation.
