When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Fardous has modern villas with spacious layouts and large windows, and newer residential blocks than the older districts. Gaps between windows and walls are less of a problem here, but larger windows mean heavier window AC units that need careful frame inspection. Coastal humidity, salt accumulation and dust on big windows require strong sealing, especially around drainage openings.

Al Fardous sits in north Jeddah, a modern district of spacious villas and newer apartment blocks near the coast.

Al Fardous windows are typically high-quality aluminium frames in larger sizes, and window AC installation needs heavy-duty brackets and secure anchoring.

The AC setup in Al Fardous

  1. 1

Large windows with strong aluminium frames

Al Fardous features large, tall windows with modern aluminium frames, allowing for installation of bigger, more robust window AC units.

  2. 2

    Ample outdoor space around windows

The villa and apartment layouts here provide ample outdoor space around windows, making inspection and sealing from outside easier.

  3. 3

Direct exposure to coastal winds and salt

Al Fardous's proximity to the sea means constant exposure to strong winds and salt, making tight sealing and secure anchoring essential for unit longevity.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Fardous

  1. 1

Clear any obstacles around the window

Make sure there are no plants or furniture blocking the window from outside, and that we can freely access the frame and drainage before the visit.

  2. 2

    Identify where drainage will go

Decide whether drainage will flow straight down or through a gutter or pipe, and tell us before the appointment.

  3. 3

Check the window frame and wall are level

Use a level to check the window frame and surrounding wall are plumb; tell us of any sloping or misalignment.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My window is very large and wide, will the unit be safe in it?

We carefully test frame strength and use heavy-duty brackets that distribute the weight evenly across the entire frame.

My house is near the beach and salt builds up on my large windows, is this a problem?

Yes, salt can seep around the unit if sealing is poor. We use heavy-duty materials that block salt and moisture penetration around the window.

How do you ensure AC condensate does not drip down my inside wall?

We angle the unit correctly outward and direct drainage pipes so water falls straight outside, with no internal seepage.

The window frame is slightly cracked inside from humidity, can you still install the unit?

We inspect the cracks closely; if they are small and surface-level we can fill and repair them before sealing and mounting. If they are deep or structurally compromising, we advise you to repair the frame first.
