When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Karamah is a mixed residential district with medium-sized villas, flats, small buildings and some ground-floor shops and workshops. The area sits further from the sea than the north but still feels Gulf humidity, especially in transition seasons. Summer heat is harsh and dust present, so window units need strong insulation around the frame to block both humidity and dust. Condensate drainage must be correct because high humidity makes more water, and an inward-tilting window will leak water into the villa or flat. Coordinating with villa residents or flat owners ensures the work does not clash with their daily use.

Al Karamah lies in south Jeddah, a district of mixed villas and small shops with moderate humidity compared to the northern coast.

Most villas and flats have relatively modern windows, but Gulf humidity means regular maintenance of insulation pads and drainage is needed.

The AC setup in Al Karamah

  1. 1

Window unit in modern aluminium frame

Most modern villas and flats have strong aluminium windows that support window AC fitting directly without major changes.

  2. 2

Metal brackets for older villas and buildings

If the villa or building is older, we add steel brackets to reinforce the frame and carry the unit's weight safely.

  3. 3

    Strong moisture and dust-resistant insulation

We use strong insulation resistant to both moisture and dust around the frame to protect the villa or flat from outside conditions.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Karamah

  1. 1

Check the window, frame and wall condition

Make sure the frame and wall have no damp or major cracks, and tell us about any issues before the visit.

  2. 2

Ensure outdoor water drainage is correct

Check that the outdoor area below the window is safe for condensate drainage and nothing blocks water from running away.

  3. 3

Coordinate with villa or flat residents on timing

Tell residents about the visit time in advance, and let them know water may drip from outside when we test the unit after installation.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Humidity is high here, does it affect the window unit's efficiency?

High humidity raises the cooling load on the unit, but window AC works well in these conditions. Strong sealing blocks humidity entering around the frame, and regular condensate removal maintains efficiency.

Water is leaking on the inside wall, what is causing it?

If the unit tilts inward instead of outward, water runs inside. We ensure the unit tilts outward at the correct angle so water drains to the street, not into the flat.

My villa is relatively old, will the window hold the unit?

We inspect the frame and wall around the window before fitting. If they are weak we add strong metal brackets to carry the unit safely without relying on the frame alone.

Dust and humidity together here, how do you protect the unit?

We use strong insulation pads that resist both moisture and dust around the frame, and tight sealing blocks both from entering. Regular servicing cleans filters and checks drainage because humidity increases the cleaning need.
