Window unit fitted right

Window AC installation in Al Farouq

Window AC installation in Al Farouq calls for careful frame selection and preparation, since most of the district's older residential blocks were not originally built for these units. Alrabih's team tests the frame strength and ensures complete sealing against Jeddah's hot salty dusty air.

When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Farouq has mid-rise residential blocks, many built before split units became common, so they still rely on window AC or plain openings. Window frames here vary from old timber to metal, and some have weakened from long exposure to wind and coastal humidity near Jeddah's shore. Installation demands careful frame inspection, firm fixing and professional sealing around the opening to stop hot air, moisture and salt seeping into the flat.

Al Farouq lies in South Jeddah, a mixed residential district blending older and newer blocks near the coastal neighbourhoods.

Most Al Farouq windows lack standard sizing, so each building has different dimensions, meaning precise measurement before purchase and installation is essential.

The AC setup in Al Farouq

  1. 1

Window unit in an existing window opening

Most Al Farouq flats have existing old windows ready, so we fit the unit into the opening after inspecting and preparing the frame.

  2. 2

    Reinforced fixing for weaker frames

Some frames need extra bracing or timber reinforcement before taking the unit's weight.

  3. 3

    Full sealing around the opening

We seal all gaps between the unit and frame with professional insulation to block hot air and salt ingress.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Farouq

  1. 1

    Measure the window opening precisely

Have the opening dimensions (width, height and depth) ready before the visit, or agree with the team to measure on site.

  2. 2

Ensure the team can reach the flat

Identify the nearest parking and inform the building management that a team will bring the unit up to the flat.

  3. 3

Check the frame and window strength

Make sure the window frame is solid and free of large cracks, as weak frames may need reinforcement before installation.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My window frame is wooden and old, will it bear the unit's weight?

We inspect the frame's strength before installation and assess whether it needs extra reinforcement. If it is too weak, we advise strengthening it or choosing an alternative solution.

Our street is narrow and the building is old, how do you get the unit to the flat?

We identify team parking and carry the unit by hand up the stairs if needed. We agree with the flat owner and building management in advance on the easiest access route.

Hot air comes in around the unit, how do you stop that?

We seal every gap around the frame with professional insulation materials and seal the sides, top and bottom tightly to stop hot air, salt and dust entering.

The unit drains water down the outside wall, how do we prevent that?

We install the unit with a slight outward tilt so condensate water flows directly outside, and we level the frame carefully with a spirit level before final fixing.
