When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Mahamid is a relatively modern residential district east of Jeddah, mainly composed of mid to high-rise apartment blocks with few detached villas, marked by regular urban planning and relatively wide streets. Each flat in these blocks may need one or more window units depending on room count and available windows, and modern buildings offer strong, quality frames that ease installation. Coordination with building management becomes essential here because installing the outdoor unit on the facade may affect building aesthetics or interfere with shared drainage pipes.

Al Mahamid is a modern residential district east of Jeddah, mainly mid to high-rise apartment blocks with regular planning and relatively wide streets.

Flats in Al Mahamid typically have multiple windows on different facades, and installing window units requires coordination with management to avoid clashing with shared utilities.

The AC setup in Al Mahamid

  1. 1

    Window units for multi-room flats

Larger flats in Al Mahamid may have two or more units on different facades, allowing independent temperature control.

  2. 2

    Single units in smaller flats

Smaller flats in modern blocks typically need just one unit, positioned on the best available facade.

  3. 3

    Coordinated arrangements with neighbouring units

When windows are close on the same facade, we plan outdoor unit positions to avoid overlap, noise, and visual impact on neighbours.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Mahamid

  1. 1

Get building management approval in writing

Before scheduling the visit, ensure you have written approval from building management, or let us contact them to explain the project.

  2. 2

Specify the window location and facade clearly

Tell us your flat number, floor, facade direction and where on the wall the window sits, since that determines the best outdoor unit position.

  3. 3

Check for shared pipes and utilities

Ask building management for a diagram of drainage and electrical runs on your building facade so we avoid any clash with shared utilities.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Do I need building management approval before installing a window unit?

Yes, most blocks in Al Mahamid require building management approval to install any outdoor unit on the facade. We advise coordinating with the office first, and if needed we can provide them with a diagram.

The outdoor unit location may vary from flat to flat on the same facade, how do you handle this?

We choose a safe position on your window that does not overlap with neighbours' units, ensure no windows or doors are blocked, and coordinate with adjacent flats if needed.

The building has shared drainage pipes, could the installation affect them?

We mind the location of shared drainage when positioning the unit, and ensure the unit's condensate drains away from them according to building code and sanitary regulations.

My flat overlooks several facades, where should I place the unit?

We choose the facade offering best ventilation for the outdoor unit and minimising direct wind and strong sun exposure, and consult building management if they have a preference.
