When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Qaws is a mixed residential district with older and newer blocks of varied styles, some windows modern and others older and weaker. This requires careful assessment of each frame before starting, and some may need minor reinforcement or repair. The east-facing location means sun and dust exposure, and proper sealing around the unit is essential for reliable performance and moisture protection.

Al Qaws is in east Jeddah, a mixed residential district with blocks of varied ages and styles on moderately wide streets.

Al Qaws windows vary in condition, some modern with strong frames and others older needing careful inspection before installation.

The AC setup in Al Qaws

  1. 1

Small window units for older buildings

Some older Al Qaws buildings can only take small window units due to frame weakness or narrow windows.

  2. 2

    Medium units for newer blocks

The newer Al Qaws blocks have stronger, wider windows suitable for medium-sized units.

  3. 3

Minor reinforcement before fitting if needed

If the frame is slightly weak, we may recommend simple reinforcement or light repair before fitting the unit.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My building is old, is my window frame suitable for a unit?

We inspect and assess the frame carefully first. If it is strong enough we fit the unit directly. If it is slightly weak we recommend simple reinforcement or repair before installation.

The street outside is moderately wide, can you bring equipment easily?

Yes, the moderately wide streets in Al Qaws generally allow safe parking. We will plan the visit in advance to ensure good access.

I worry about dust entering around the unit, how do you prevent it?

We seal all gaps around the frame with insulation and sealant, ensuring the closure is tight enough to block dust entry completely.

Condensate from the unit drips down the outer wall, is that normal?

That is completely normal, water drains from the unit outside. But we will ensure the angle is correct and water does not pool or affect the wall over time.
