When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Nuzlah Al Yamaniyah is a mixed district of scattered villas and relatively modern apartment blocks, and heat and humidity here are more intense than north Jeddah especially in summer. Installation here demands very strong sealing because small gaps let intense heat and humidity in quickly, precise outward tilt because condensation is heavier in wet hot weather, and you may need an extra drainage line run in some cases.

Al Nuzlah Al Yamaniyah is in south Jeddah, a mixed district of villas and apartment blocks with varied urban layout.

Most windows here are standard with aluminium frames or newer, and intense heat means sealing and drainage are more critical than in northern areas.

The AC setup in Al Nuzlah Al Yamaniyah

  1. 1

Strong aluminium frames in newer villas

Most newer villas in Al Nuzlah have strong aluminium frames designed for heat, providing a reliable base.

  2. 2

    Modern blocks with insulated windows

Modern residential blocks here have well-insulated windows, reducing heat loss and making installation more effective.

  3. 3

    Wide exterior spaces for drainage

Most villas and blocks here have wide exterior spaces, allowing safe drainage and potentially requiring extra lines in high-humidity cases.

Before the visit

  1. 1

    Prioritise drainage and sun exposure

Choose your window side based on best possible drainage and least direct sun exposure all day.

  2. 2

Confirm the frame and sill are strong

Intense heat stresses frames, so confirm your window frame and sill are free from cracks or weakness.

  3. 3

Tell us of any expansion plans

If you are considering enlarging or moving the window opening, tell us before the visit so we can assess feasibility and cost.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

The heat here is more intense than further north, does this affect window AC installation?

Yes, intense heat and humidity mean gaps must be sealed very strongly, so we use high-grade insulation and strong silicone to withstand large temperature swings.

Condensation is very heavy in summer, how do you ensure safe drainage?

We mount the unit with a slightly steeper outward angle than usual, and may run an extra drainage line in cases with very high humidity.

My villa is in an open area with sun exposure all day, does this matter?

Yes, direct sun all day increases the unit's thermal load, but window installation remains safe as long as the frame is strong and sealing is very thorough.

We might need to enlarge the window opening in our villa, is that possible?

That would involve construction costs and needs specialist advice, but we can suggest the best window size for the unit when we do our initial inspection.
