When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Obaid is an older residential district in south Jeddah, with mid-rise buildings and many flats with simple steel or aluminium window frames. The southern location means constant sun and Red Sea humidity, speeding up seal and drainage wear. Window AC installation here needs close attention to extend drainage pipes safely so they do not leak on interior or exterior walls.

Obaid sits in south Jeddah, an older residential district of mid-rise buildings with direct sun and coastal humidity exposure.

Most older buildings here have basic steel window frames, meaning inherent poor thermal insulation that demands stronger window AC units.

The AC setup in Obaid

  1. 1

    Simple steel frame windows

Most Obaid windows have older steel frames with light rust, so we treat corrosion and reinforce the frame before fitting the unit.

  2. 2

    Medium to high-capacity window units

Obaid flats need stronger units to handle constant solar heat, and we often recommend units of 1.5 tonnes or larger.

  3. 3

Airtight external drainage to prevent leaks

We extend drainage pipes so they slope outward and secure them with moisture-proof seals to prevent interior wall leaks.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Obaid

  1. 1

Inspect window frame condition and rust

Before the visit, check for visible rust on the steel or aluminium frame and tell us about its condition so we can prepare treatment and reinforcement.

  2. 2

Clear the window area inside and out

Remove furniture and hanging items around the window inside and out to give the team safe working space.

  3. 3

Confirm external drainage access is clear

Check that the area below the window outside is clear so we can safely extend the drainage pipe without obstruction.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My old window unit leaks water down the interior wall, how do you prevent that?

We inspect old drainage pipes and replace them if needed, and angle the outlet correctly toward the outside to prevent seepage.

Strong sun in Obaid heats our walls a lot, will a window unit cool the whole flat?

That depends on the flat's size, number of windows and existing insulation. We assess the site and recommend the right unit size.

Hot air and humidity corrode the window frame over time, does that affect installation?

Yes, we may need to reinforce the frame with extra support plates if rust is visible. We check this before installation.

The window unit needs high electrical power, can old wiring handle it?

We check the circuit and its capacity before installation. If it is weak, we recommend upgrading the line from the distribution board.
