When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Ruwais is marked by spacious villas with large outdoor areas and residential blocks with multiple window sizes and orientations. Installing a window unit here requires individual assessment of each window because frames vary and some may be older than others. The central location means moderate heat and humidity exposure, but seasonal winds and dust demand strong frame sealing, and easy access to the exterior simplifies installation and maintenance.

Al Ruwais sits in central Jeddah, a mixed residential district of spacious villas and blocks with varied window sizes and orientations.

Al Ruwais windows vary in size and frame type, from modern concrete to older metal, requiring customised assessment at each site.

The AC setup in Al Ruwais

  1. 1

Customised installation per frame type and size

Al Ruwais requires individual assessment of each window due to size and frame variation, ensuring safe and effective installation.

  2. 2

Robust sealing for older metal frames

Metal frames require special care in sealing and rust protection using high-grade silicone.

  3. 3

    Safe drainage considering villa terrain

We install the unit at a safe drainage angle and ensure condensate does not drain toward the villa foundation or sensitive areas.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My villa has windows of different sizes and materials, how do you choose the right unit?

We inspect each window individually and recommend the right unit based on size, frame and location, providing precise measurements before purchase.

Some of my windows have old metal frames, do they need special treatment?

Yes, old metal frames need inspection for rust and weakness, and we may use additional packing or anchors for secure mounting.

Access to the outside of some villa windows is difficult, how do you manage?

We assess external access on the visit, and if it is difficult we discuss alternatives such as another window or design review.

Seasonal winds are sometimes strong, do they affect installation?

Strong winds may affect weak frames, so we recommend relatively sheltered windows and perform a structural assessment before installation.
