When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Sahifah is central Jeddah's mixed district with multi-storey residential blocks and ground-floor shops, a varied mix of older and newer buildings. Busy streets bring noise, dust and vehicle fumes, and tight building gaps limit natural airflow. Windows may be narrow or uneven in older blocks, so we carefully inspect each frame, use noise and dust-blocking seals, and coordinate with flat occupants or shop owners to ensure safe, smooth fitting.

Al Sahifah sits in central Jeddah, a dense urban district mixing residential blocks, shops and offices around busy central markets.

Most window units in Al Sahifah face busy streets or squares, exposing them to daily noise, dust and exhaust fumes.

The AC setup in Al Sahifah

  1. 1

Closely built apartment blocks with street-facing windows

Most flats in Al Sahifah have windows facing the busy street directly, requiring strong sealing against noise and dust.

  2. 2

    Ground-floor shops with flats above

Al Sahifah's typical design stacks ground shops under residential flats in the same block, requiring coordination with the shop owner when fitting a flat upstairs.

  3. 3

Varied windows in older and newer buildings

Al Sahifah mixes older buildings with narrow, less robust windows and newer ones with high-spec windows.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Sahifah

  1. 1

Coordinate with neighbours and any ground-floor shop

If the flat is above a shop, inform the owner about the visit time. Tell neighbours in the floor to avoid disruption from fitting works.

  2. 2

Measure the window carefully and check its strength

Send us measurements in centimetres and confirm the frame and glass are not cracked. If the window is very narrow, let us know in advance.

  3. 3

Confirm safe access from inside and outside

Check that the flat and external space allow safe team access, especially if the window is high or the balcony is tight.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

The street is very busy and noisy, does a window unit reduce outside noise?

We use strong sealing and noise-reducing silicone around the frame to limit noise entry. Tight sealing helps, but the window glazing itself matters too; thicker glass reduces noise better.

Car dust gets everywhere, how do you protect the window unit?

We use high-grade weatherstripping and dust-resistant silicone in every opening. We recommend regular cleaning of the unit's indoor filters to reduce dust buildup.

The flat is high up and the window is narrow, can you fit the unit?

We inspect the window first. If the dimensions allow a window unit, we fit it. If it is too narrow, we may recommend a split system or alternative suited to your space.

The building is old and walls get damp sometimes, does this affect the fit?

We inspect the wall and frame carefully. If there is old moisture damage, we ensure very strong sealing to prevent water re-entry. We may recommend addressing the damp before fitting.
