Window AC installation in Al Sarawat

In Al Sarawat, south Jeddah, window AC installation calls for special care because most modern flats have standard-size windows. Alrabih prepares the frame, seals every gap, and ensures the condensate slopes outward precisely.

When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

  • Managing a staff housing building that needs practical cooling

We survey each room and its existing openings, then install units in level frames with the correct outward tilt in every room as the survey findings direct.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Sarawat is a relatively modern residential district of multi-storey apartment blocks with standard-size flats, and the windows here mostly face south and east directly into the sea-facing heat and humidity at close range. That means gaps around the window frame let salty moist air seep in quickly, and the drain slope must be set exactly right to stop water leaking into the flat.

Al Sarawat lies in south Jeddah, a modern residential district of multi-storey apartment blocks with standard windows facing south toward the sea.

Most flat windows here are standard-size with double glazing, but aluminium frames need strong sealing against the salty damp air.

The AC setup in Al Sarawat

  1. 1

    Standard-size windows in modern flats

Most Al Sarawat flats were built with uniform standard windows, making it straightforward to choose the right size window unit and install it quickly.

  2. 2

    Aluminium frames need extra reinforcement

The relatively light aluminium frames need reinforcement brackets and secure fixings to bear the window unit's weight.

  3. 3

South-facing windows exposed to intense heat

Most flats here have south-facing windows exposed directly to the sea, so the unit operates under high daily heat stress.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Sarawat

  1. 1

Confirm the frame is level before our visit

Check that your window frame is not slanted or bent, since a twisted frame affects safe mounting of the unit and the drain slope.

  2. 2

Clear furniture and items below the window

Make sure the space under and outside the window is clear of furniture and objects so our team can measure, mount and check the drain safely.

  3. 3

Agree on the best outdoor drain location

Before we visit, agree with us on the best spot for water to drain outside, so it does not affect a shared passage or entrance with neighbours.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My flat faces the sea, does that complicate the installation?

Yes, direct sea-facing exposure to salty humid air calls for extra sealing of all gaps around the frame and careful checking of the drain slope.

My window frame is aluminium, can it hold a window AC?

Aluminium is strong but needs extra bracing under the heavy unit, so we check the frame's levelness and strength before mounting.

Does sea humidity affect the AC's efficiency?

Proximity to sea humidity puts extra load on the unit, but good sealing of all gaps reduces damp air infiltration and improves performance.

Where does the condensate from the outdoor unit drain?

The water must slope completely away from the flat, so we study the window position and nearby ground levels to prevent puddles forming near the outer wall or entry.
