Window AC installation in Al Shama'il

Window AC installation in Al Shama'il requires special care because east and north-facing facades are directly exposed to hot humid air. Alrabih's team seals the openings tight and levels the frame so condensate slopes outward and does not sit in your wall.

When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Shama'il is a developing district in the north-east with multi-storey apartment blocks and villas, and window openings vary in size, some older in existing buildings. East and north-facing facades absorb sea-borne humid salty air, making tight sealing around the unit critical to stop water seepage and mould. The precise outward tilt ensures water drains away from the foundation and interior walls.

Al Shama'il is in Jeddah's north-east, a developing area mixing modern and older buildings, exposed to humid easterly air.

Window openings in Al Shama'il are not entirely uniform, especially in older buildings, so each installation needs custom measurement and handling.

The AC setup in Al Shama'il

  1. 1

    Window units in varied sizes

The range of opening sizes in Al Shama'il requires stocking units in multiple sizes or making frame adjustments as needed.

  2. 2

Old and new frames side by side

Older buildings may have frames needing reinforcement or recalibration, while newer villas have strong and uniform frames.

  3. 3

East and north facades directly exposed

Most window installations here are on east or north facades taking humid air directly, requiring extra sealing attention.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shama'il

  1. 1

Identify the opening direction and building aspect

Tell us if the opening faces east, north or another direction so we can prepare the appropriate sealing treatment.

  2. 2

    Check current frame condition

Inspect the frame for rust or cracks before our visit, as we may need to reinforce or replace parts of it.

  3. 3

    Confirm outdoor access is safe

If the opening is on a high floor, ensure exterior access is safe and properly supported before the appointment.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Air comes from both east and north here, does that increase humidity?

Yes, air from two directions means higher humidity and more sea salt, so sealing and the outward tilt must be very strong.

Some neighbours' openings are not uniform, how do you handle variations?

We measure each opening individually and prepare custom sealing and frame treatment before installation.

East and north walls are more exposed to moisture, does installation protect them?

Strong sealing around the unit and the outward tilt prevent water from seeping into the wall and foundation, protecting the building's integrity.

How often should a window unit be cleaned in these humid conditions?

We recommend cleaning every 3 to 4 weeks in summer because humidity and salt increase dirt and mould buildup faster.
