When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

  • Managing a staff housing building that needs practical cooling

We survey each room and its existing openings, then install units in level frames with the correct outward tilt in every room as the survey findings direct.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Shara'i is a growing residential district with family homes and flats featuring relatively modern windows. However, proximity to the sea means salt and moisture quickly penetrate any unsealed gap. Proper window unit installation requires tight sealing and regular checks to prevent air and water leaks from the harsh coastal conditions.

Al Shara'i lies in north-east Jeddah, a coastal residential area with high exposure to salt and marine moisture.

Al Shara'i windows are mostly modern standards, but metal frames need advanced sealing against salt and moisture.

The AC setup in Al Shara'i

  1. 1

Window units with upgraded aluminium frames

Al Shara'i units typically have upgraded aluminium frames to resist salt, but need extra sealing around the gaps.

  2. 2

    Water drainage with insulated slope

The unit is angled and sealed with strong silicone to ensure condensate slides away from interior walls.

  3. 3

    Salt and moisture-rated protection

All sealing materials and gaps are rated for salt and moisture resistance in the harsh coastal environment of Al Shara'i.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shara'i

Check water drainage around the window

Confirm water flows easily from the external sill, and tell us about any leaks or pooling around the window.

  3. 3

Clear a safe working area outside the window

Make sure our team can safely reach outside the window to inspect, install the unit and check angle and drainage.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Does a window unit get damaged by the nearby sea salt?

Yes, salt corrodes the unit and frame metal quickly, so all gaps must be sealed with salt-resistant materials and the unit checked regularly.

With moisture and sea humidity, how do you protect the interior wall?

We install the unit with steady slope and strong frame sealing, and test drainage immediately after to ensure water does not leak inside.

When should gaps and seals be checked after installation?

Gaps and seals should be checked every three months in coastal areas, or after salt wind storms, to ensure sealing stays tight.

Does the window need modification before the unit goes in?

It depends on sill and frame condition; we may need minor repair or bracing before installation to ensure stability and safe drainage.
