When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

  • Managing a staff housing building that needs practical cooling

We survey each room and its existing openings, then install units in level frames with the correct outward tilt in every room as the survey findings direct.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Wafa is a relatively older east-side area with closely built apartment blocks and narrow streets compared to newer districts, meaning limited window access and difficulty reaching them from outside. Window units here need advance planning with the building or flat owner, and we may need ladders or special equipment for safe external access, with tight sealing despite confined space.

Al Wafa is in east Jeddah, an older residential area with closely built blocks and narrow streets.

Buildings in Al Wafa sit close together, with windows often opening onto small gaps between walls, which limits outdoor unit placement options and access.

The AC setup in Al Wafa

  1. 1

Window in a tightly built block with limited access

Windows in Al Wafa are typically standard but external access is limited because buildings are close; we need advance planning and coordination.

  2. 2

Outdoor unit on small balcony or tight gap

The outdoor unit usually goes on a small balcony or tight gap between buildings and needs carefully calculated ventilation.

  3. 3

Condensate drainage with care not to leak onto neighbour

Condensate must drain away without leaking onto the neighbour or shared entrance; tilt and drainage are calculated precisely.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Wafa

  1. 1

Confirm safe access to the window

Confirm how the team will safely reach the window from outside, and whether special equipment or neighbour coordination is needed.

  2. 2

    Agree visit time with neighbours

The team may need to access via a neighbour's balcony or shared path, so arrange the time with them in advance.

  3. 3

    Clarify condensate drainage location precisely

Specify clearly where condensate will drain and confirm it will not affect your neighbour or a shared path.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

The gap between our building and the next is very tight, can we install the unit?

We inspect the site first and measure the gap precisely; we may place the outdoor unit on a balcony or find an alternative solution based on available space and structure.

Reaching the window from outside is very difficult, can you still install it?

We use safe equipment like ladders or scaffolding if needed, but we must assess the site in advance and sometimes coordinate with neighbours.

Is moisture and mould worse in closely built blocks?

Yes, closely built blocks and narrow streets reduce natural airflow, so mould grows faster; tight sealing and free drainage are essential.

My flat is small, does a window unit take up much space?

A window unit mounts in the window itself and takes no additional interior space, unlike a split system which needs an indoor wall unit.
