When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Asaliyah is a mix of villas and residential blocks, many built in the eighties and nineties using window units in bedrooms and lounges. These units face intense southern heat and wind-blown dust, which clogs coils and wears fan blades quickly. Repairing a window AC here is often simpler and faster than full replacement, especially when the problem is the drain pan or the condenser coil.

Al Asaliyah is a residential neighbourhood in south Jeddah, with mixed-era buildings combining larger villas and mid-sized apartment blocks.

Window units here are mostly fitted to bedroom and lounge windows, and many run without regular service for years.

The AC setup in Al Asaliyah

  1. 1

    Single window units per room

Each bedroom or lounge in Al Asaliyah typically has its own window unit, making repair straightforward and quick to complete.

  2. 2

Mounted on older metal window frames

Most windows here are metal frames from the original building period, requiring care when removing units to avoid frame damage.

  3. 3

Visible outdoor sections on the façades

The outdoor sections are visible on façades and exposed directly to southern winds and dust.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Asaliyah

  1. 1

Ensure the team can access the window safely

Some windows are on upper floors or above heavy furniture, so tell us the unit's location so the team brings the right equipment.

  2. 2

Clear the area around the window

Move furniture or items that might block removing the unit from the window or working around its frame.

  3. 3

    Describe the problem in detail

Is it leaking, noisy, not cooling, or a combination. This helps the team bring the right parts and tools for the repair.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window AC is leaking water into the room, do I need a replacement?

Often not. The leak is usually a clogged drain pan or wrong unit tilt. We stop the leak by cleaning the pan and adjusting the angle before considering replacement.

The southern air here is very hot and dusty, how do you maintain a window AC?

Dust clogs the coils quickly in Al Asaliyah because the wind brings sand directly. Clean the outdoor coil and indoor filter every month or two, and we clean them during a service call.

My window unit is making a clicking or grinding noise, what is causing it?

Noises usually mean loose fan blades or dust trapped between the condenser and fan. We inspect, tighten the blades or clear the blockage on the first visit.

Should I run my window AC all day in intense heat or switch it off?

Long continuous running strains the condenser and motor, especially in southern heat. Cut stress by closing blinds, using natural ventilation early morning, and we recommend seasonal service calls.
