When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Harat Al Bahar is among Jeddah's oldest neighbourhoods, with closely built old residential blocks and street-level popular shops, narrow windows facing a crowded street. Window units here are very old and often rented or inherited across years, with leaks, noise and weak cooling recurring problems. Simple repair saves money over replacement, especially since spare parts for old units are hard to find. Tight spaces and close-built blocks also make correct drain installation critical.

Harat Al Bahar lies in Jeddah's historic downtown, an old district of closely built residential and commercial blocks around crowded, narrow streets.

Most window units here are mounted on narrow windows in upper storeys, and many have run continuously for over a decade.

The AC setup in Harat Al Bahar

  1. 1

Window units on narrow upper-floor windows

Most units are mounted on narrow windows in upper floors of old buildings, making service difficult and risky.

  2. 2

    Very old inherited units

Many units are inherited from years back and never replaced, with metal parts corroded by humidity and salt.

  3. 3

    Drain lines irregular or blocked

Old pipes and irregular drainage are common in these buildings, causing repeated leaks and mould in the unit.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Harat Al Bahar

  1. 1

Open the window and clear the path

Make sure the window holding the unit opens easily and the path in front is clear of obstacles.

  2. 2

Schedule the visit before peak hours

The street gets crowded during peak hours, so choose a morning or late evening slot.

  3. 3

    Disconnect the power first

Before the team arrives, cut the unit's power supply to ensure safety during inspection.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

The area is very old, is an old window unit worth repairing?

Yes, if the issue is simple like a blocked drain or dirty filter. We inspect it free and tell you if repair makes sense or if replacement is better.

The street is very crowded and narrow, how do you bring equipment?

Our team carries service tools by hand. We arrange the visit time with you in advance to avoid peak traffic and make access easier.

Do coastal humidity and salt affect the window unit?

Yes, greatly. High humidity and airborne salt accelerate rust in the condenser tubes and metal parts. Regular cleaning and drain checks are essential.

The building is very old and the wiring is weak, does that affect repair?

We check the connections during the visit. If the power supply is too weak, we may need an electrician to strengthen the circuit before running the unit again.
