In Harat Al Mazloum, at the heart of old downtown Jeddah, window units are standard in flats above shops and storage, often failing with dripping and noise before cooling dies. Alrabih diagnoses the actual fault and repairs it rather than rushing to replacement.

When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Harat Al Mazloum is an old, densely built quarter mixing popular markets and ground-floor storage with residential flats above, with narrow lanes and close window spacing. Residents have relied on window units for decades because they are simplest and cheapest, but age, high humidity and dust from the markets wear coils and seals quickly. Careful repair of the original fault saves money and hassle more than replacing it.

Harat Al Mazloum is in old downtown Jeddah, a district of tightly packed older buildings clustered round historic popular markets.

Window units here are older than in other quarters, most mounted on shopfront-facing windows exposed directly to market traffic.

The AC setup in Harat Al Mazloum

  1. 1

Old window unit on an old building window

Most units are mounted on old wooden or metal-framed windows, whose frames may be weak or rusted.

  2. 2

Multiple units crammed on one narrow facade

Some buildings have several window units on the same narrow facade, raising noise and thermal interference between them.

  3. 3

Unit directly exposed to market smoke and dust

Units facing the markets receive market dust and fumes directly, rapidly clogging coils and filters.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Harat Al Mazloum

  1. 1

Tell us the floor, window and direction

Let us know what floor, which street or market the window faces, and its direction, so the team can plan safely.

  2. 2

Coordinate a safe parking spot on the narrow street

Streets here are very narrow, so tell us in advance about the nearest safe parking and whether there are issues with vendors or the shop owner.

  3. 3

Inform neighbours and the shop below the window

Tell your neighbours and the shop owner below that we will use ladders on visit day, to avoid any friction or misunderstanding.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit is very old, do you repair old ones or recommend replacement?

We diagnose first. If the fault is just a coil, valve or cable, we repair it. If the frame is badly rusted or the compressor failing, we tell you honestly that replacement makes sense.

Our lane is very narrow and the window is high up, how do you reach the unit?

We use light portable ladders carried by hand through tight passages, and we coordinate with you to secure the nearest safe parking and brief the neighbours in advance.

Humidity and dust from the market keep blocking my unit, is this normal?

Yes, proximity to markets and coastal humidity speed up dust and mould buildup in coils and filters far faster, which is why regular cleaning is more critical here than elsewhere.

The electrics in my building are very old, can they handle a window unit?

We inspect the breaker and wiring and check the electrical load before repair. If the circuit is weak or connections damaged, we tell you before starting work.
