When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Harat Al Yemen is one of Jeddah's oldest historic quarters, with tall, tightly clustered heritage buildings around very narrow alleys, mixing ground-floor shops and craft workshops with small flats above. The ancient buildings are tightly spaced with irregular foundations and internal columns, making window unit mounting inflexible. Intense humidity from narrow alleys and poor airflow speeds mould growth and metal decay; old wiring may cause voltage swings that harm electrical units. Access is difficult because alleys are narrow and twisting.

Harat Al Yemen is a historic quarter in the heart of old Jeddah, with tall heritage buildings tightly packed around very narrow, winding alleys.

Window units here are older than other areas, confined to narrow windows in buildings with irregular columns and walls.

The AC setup in Harat Al Yemen

  1. 1

Window units on tight windows in old buildings

Historic buildings in Harat Al Yemen have narrow, irregular windows, limiting mounting options.

  2. 2

Old units exposed to humidity and mould

Most units here are very old; intense humidity from narrow alleys causes rapid mould growth.

  3. 3

Units wired with old circuit lines

Wiring in old buildings may be unstable, affecting electrical unit performance.

Before the visit

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My building is very old with internal columns, can you install a window unit?

It depends on the window and column positions. Some windows may work; others might be too tight or blocked. We will visit and identify the possible options.

Our alleys are very narrow and winding, how do you reach my unit?

Our team carries tools on foot through the narrow alleys as needed. We agree in advance on the closest parking spot and the access route.

Old town humidity causes heavy mould in my unit, how do you solve this?

Poor airflow and narrow alleys cause intense humidity. We clean mould from the drain pan and seals, and may advise better room ventilation or more frequent cleaning.

The building's wiring is very old, could this harm my unit?

Old wiring may cause voltage swings that damage electrical parts and capacitors. We check the power connection before startup and may advise a voltage stabiliser to protect the unit.
