When central AC makes sense in your flat

  1. 1

    New flat before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to install central AC. The ceiling is open and walls are ready for copper and drain routes, so there is no need later to cut plaster or damage finished surfaces.

  2. 2

Occupied flat where splits fall short

If splits leave hot and cold patches, or the noise bothers you at night, central AC distributes air evenly and hides the unit away from the room. A site survey decides whether your ceiling height allows it.

  3. 3

    Your unit disturbs the neighbours

In apartments, neighbours hear unit vibration through shared ceilings and walls. We choose the indoor unit suspension point carefully and use flexible collars on the air outlets to absorb vibration before it reaches the building structure.

Who it's for

  • Living in a furnished flat and want to replace splits

We survey your ceiling void to see whether a concealed unit fits, then run copper and drain without disturbing the existing décor.

  • Buying a flat in a building under construction

We coordinate with the finishing stage to run copper, drain and ducts before ceilings and walls are closed, so every route stays fully concealed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Ceiling and route survey

We measure the available ceiling void, decide where the indoor unit hangs, map the copper route and find where condensate drains without causing damp. The survey decides whether one zone or more suits the flat.

  2. 2

    Run copper and drain

We run insulated Mueller copper in the void above the suspended ceiling and slope the condensate line towards the building drain or an external outlet, so no standing water causes odour or damp.

  3. 3

    Fit ducts and outlets

We mount the indoor unit on vibration-absorbing hangers, route ducts to each room and place every outlet so air spreads evenly without blowing cold air directly onto anyone.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, test and hand over

We vacuum the copper line to remove air and moisture, check all joints, then run the unit and confirm cooling in every room before we hand over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Baghdadiyah Al Gharbiyah is a medium-density neighbourhood of relatively modern flats with limited ceiling voids and shared walls between units. Central AC here means carefully choosing the corridor or bathroom for the indoor unit to prevent noise from travelling to neighbouring flats, and routing the drain so it does not cause damp in the shared walls. Modern suspended ceilings offer more flexibility for duct runs, but keeping safe clearance from existing wiring and plumbing is essential.

Al Baghdadiyah Al Gharbiyah lies in central Jeddah, a zone of relatively modern residential building with multi-storey flats and urban amenities.

Most flats in the area require one indoor unit placed in the corridor or bathroom, with the drain outlet routed to the building's main drain run.

The AC setup in Al Baghdadiyah Al Gharbiyah

  1. 1

Single indoor unit in corridor or bathroom

Modern flats in Al Baghdadiyah offer suitable corridor or bathroom space for the indoor unit without requiring a large ceiling cavity.

  2. 2

Flexible ductwork through tight ceiling voids

Flexible ducts suit the suspended ceilings in closely spaced flats, allowing air distribution to multiple rooms without structural work.

  3. 3

Unified drain outlet to the building's main drain

Water from the unit drains to the building's main system or designated outdoor opening, keeping shared walls dry.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Baghdadiyah Al Gharbiyah

  1. 1

Show us the ceiling void and shared walls

Before the visit, check your ceiling void access and identify shared walls with neighbours so we can route ducts precisely.

  2. 2

Choose the best spot for the indoor unit

Think about placing the indoor unit away from bedrooms, either in the corridor or bathroom, and tell us your preference before the visit.

  3. 3

    Locate the drain outlet route

Find out where the building's main drain or nearest outdoor opening is so we can direct the drain line without conflicts.

FAQ

Questions about Apartment central AC

Is there enough ceiling space in a flat for a central unit?

It varies between flats. Slim ceiling cassettes need less void depth than full ducted units. A site survey measures what is available and decides the right type; if the corridor ceiling is too shallow we look at a storage room or bathroom ceiling instead.

Is one unit enough for the whole flat or do I need more?

It depends on the flat's area, room layout and how much sun each side receives. Two- and three-bedroom flats can sometimes work with one unit and well-planned ducts; larger flats or those with separate zones may need two. The survey decides.

Where does the outdoor unit go when the flat has no large balcony?

Options include the shared roof if the building rules allow it, a facade bracket away from neighbours' windows, or the balcony if it can take the load. We review the building's rules before recommending any position.

Jeddah's air is very humid; does that affect the condensate drain?

Yes. In Jeddah the indoor unit produces more condensate because of the high humidity. We make sure the drain line has enough fall, that the horizontal run before it drops is not too long, and that the outlet does not conflict with other flats' drainage in the building.

Can the flat be split into two zones with different temperatures?

It is possible using two separate indoor units or by adding variable-flow dampers on the duct runs. The right choice depends on the flat's layout and the ceiling void available in each zone. A site survey decides which approach suits your room arrangement.

Is central AC suitable for my smaller flat in Al Baghdadiyah?

Yes, even smaller flats gain from even cooling across all rooms instead of separate units, and the tight ceiling void does not prevent installation if we plan the route carefully.

I worry the duct noise will disturb my neighbours, what can we do?

We place the indoor unit in the corridor or bathroom away from shared bedroom walls, and use acoustic insulation around ducts in the ceiling void to minimise noise transmission between flats.

The drain pipes might cause damp in the shared wall with my neighbour, how do you prevent that?

We route the drain pipes at a steady gradient towards the building's main drain or a designated outdoor outlet, and use tight fittings to prevent water seeping into the walls.

Do I need new electrical wiring or will my current supply work?

It depends on the unit's power and the distance from your flat's main electrical panel. We inspect your current wiring on the first visit and recommend any necessary changes.
