When central AC makes sense in your flat

  1. 1

    New flat before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to install central AC. The ceiling is open and walls are ready for copper and drain routes, so there is no need later to cut plaster or damage finished surfaces.

  2. 2

Occupied flat where splits fall short

If splits leave hot and cold patches, or the noise bothers you at night, central AC distributes air evenly and hides the unit away from the room. A site survey decides whether your ceiling height allows it.

  3. 3

    Your unit disturbs the neighbours

In apartments, neighbours hear unit vibration through shared ceilings and walls. We choose the indoor unit suspension point carefully and use flexible collars on the air outlets to absorb vibration before it reaches the building structure.

Who it's for

  • Living in a furnished flat and want to replace splits

We survey your ceiling void to see whether a concealed unit fits, then run copper and drain without disturbing the existing décor.

  • Buying a flat in a building under construction

We coordinate with the finishing stage to run copper, drain and ducts before ceilings and walls are closed, so every route stays fully concealed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Ceiling and route survey

We measure the available ceiling void, decide where the indoor unit hangs, map the copper route and find where condensate drains without causing damp. The survey decides whether one zone or more suits the flat.

  2. 2

    Run copper and drain

We run insulated Mueller copper in the void above the suspended ceiling and slope the condensate line towards the building drain or an external outlet, so no standing water causes odour or damp.

  3. 3

    Fit ducts and outlets

We mount the indoor unit on vibration-absorbing hangers, route ducts to each room and place every outlet so air spreads evenly without blowing cold air directly onto anyone.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, test and hand over

We vacuum the copper line to remove air and moisture, check all joints, then run the unit and confirm cooling in every room before we hand over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Fadilah is a mixed district with apartments of varying modern standards, but most have higher ceilings than central or historic Jeddah. Walls are sturdy and ventilation is better due to newer design. The challenge here is handling the diversity of flat layouts and ensuring the AC system suits each case individually, especially when sizes vary significantly.

Al Fadilah is in south Jeddah, a diverse area with apartments of varying sizes and designs but with reasonable ceiling heights.

Al Fadilah apartments require individual assessment, but most can fit a medium indoor unit with ducts feeding three to four rooms depending on total area.

The AC setup in Al Fadilah

  1. 1

    Flexible medium-sized indoor unit

The range of flat sizes in Al Fadilah requires flexible unit selection, so we choose the right size for each flat with precision.

  2. 2

Ducts distributed according to each flat's layout

Each flat has its own layout, so we design duct routes according to the actual hallway and room positions to ensure fair cool air delivery.

  3. 3

Standard drain system with moisture protection

The area's high moisture requires regular maintenance, so we recommend cleaning the drain pan every season to prevent blockage.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Fadilah

  1. 1

Measure the flat and identify main rooms

Before the visit, measure total area and identify the number of rooms and hallways to help us calculate unit capacity and duct sizing.

  2. 2

Check for any existing ducts or previous ventilation

If the flat has old ventilation or AC ducts, tell us where they are so we may reuse them if possible and save time.

  3. 3

Coordinate with building management about ceiling and floor access

Some buildings restrict ceiling or floor access, so coordinate with management in advance to secure approval and safe passage for workers.

FAQ

Questions about Apartment central AC

Is there enough ceiling space in a flat for a central unit?

It varies between flats. Slim ceiling cassettes need less void depth than full ducted units. A site survey measures what is available and decides the right type; if the corridor ceiling is too shallow we look at a storage room or bathroom ceiling instead.

Is one unit enough for the whole flat or do I need more?

It depends on the flat's area, room layout and how much sun each side receives. Two- and three-bedroom flats can sometimes work with one unit and well-planned ducts; larger flats or those with separate zones may need two. The survey decides.

Where does the outdoor unit go when the flat has no large balcony?

Options include the shared roof if the building rules allow it, a facade bracket away from neighbours' windows, or the balcony if it can take the load. We review the building's rules before recommending any position.

Jeddah's air is very humid; does that affect the condensate drain?

Yes. In Jeddah the indoor unit produces more condensate because of the high humidity. We make sure the drain line has enough fall, that the horizontal run before it drops is not too long, and that the outlet does not conflict with other flats' drainage in the building.

Can the flat be split into two zones with different temperatures?

It is possible using two separate indoor units or by adding variable-flow dampers on the duct runs. The right choice depends on the flat's layout and the ceiling void available in each zone. A site survey decides which approach suits your room arrangement.

My flat is smaller than others in the area, is central AC still a good fit?

Yes, we can install a smaller indoor unit with sufficient capacity for a compact flat, distributing air fairly across the main rooms.

Some flats here are older with lower ceilings, can you fit central AC?

If the ceiling is very low, we may recommend a split unit instead of central. We visit first to assess feasibility and the best option.

Al Fadilah has moisture from nearby waterways, does this affect the AC system?

High moisture increases cooling load, but we select a unit with sufficient capacity and ensure regular drain pan maintenance to prevent mould and fungal growth.

I have a bedroom far from the hallways, how do you get cold air to it?

We route ducts carefully to reach distant rooms, and if a room is very far, we may add a second compact unit or use longer ducts with an air booster.
