When central AC makes sense in your flat

  1. 1

    New flat before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to install central AC. The ceiling is open and walls are ready for copper and drain routes, so there is no need later to cut plaster or damage finished surfaces.

  2. 2

Occupied flat where splits fall short

If splits leave hot and cold patches, or the noise bothers you at night, central AC distributes air evenly and hides the unit away from the room. A site survey decides whether your ceiling height allows it.

  3. 3

    Your unit disturbs the neighbours

In apartments, neighbours hear unit vibration through shared ceilings and walls. We choose the indoor unit suspension point carefully and use flexible collars on the air outlets to absorb vibration before it reaches the building structure.

Who it's for

  • Living in a furnished flat and want to replace splits

We survey your ceiling void to see whether a concealed unit fits, then run copper and drain without disturbing the existing décor.

  • Buying a flat in a building under construction

We coordinate with the finishing stage to run copper, drain and ducts before ceilings and walls are closed, so every route stays fully concealed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Ceiling and route survey

We measure the available ceiling void, decide where the indoor unit hangs, map the copper route and find where condensate drains without causing damp. The survey decides whether one zone or more suits the flat.

  2. 2

    Run copper and drain

We run insulated Mueller copper in the void above the suspended ceiling and slope the condensate line towards the building drain or an external outlet, so no standing water causes odour or damp.

  3. 3

    Fit ducts and outlets

We mount the indoor unit on vibration-absorbing hangers, route ducts to each room and place every outlet so air spreads evenly without blowing cold air directly onto anyone.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, test and hand over

We vacuum the copper line to remove air and moisture, check all joints, then run the unit and confirm cooling in every room before we hand over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Surur is a medium-sized residential district in south Jeddah with apartment blocks of varied flat sizes and tight ceiling voids under modern building standards. Central AC installation here requires precise selection of the indoor unit location to preserve living space, and the condensate drain must safely reach the main system without affecting shared walls.

Al Surur lies in south Jeddah's residential sector, an area of medium-rise apartment buildings with limited ceiling voids.

Most flats here are medium-sized with standard ceiling voids, so the indoor unit is usually mounted in the corridor to free up room space.

The AC setup in Al Surur

  1. 1

Compact indoor unit in the ceiling

Small flats and limited voids require a compact indoor unit with moderate capacity that distributes air without consuming living space.

  2. 2

Short, quiet ducts to the rooms

Short distances from the unit to rooms reduce noise and heat loss, improving both efficiency and comfort.

  3. 3

Insulated drain safely connected to main pipes

Insulating the drain pipes prevents moisture and noise in the ceiling voids, and safe connection ensures neighbours are not affected.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Surur

  1. 1

Clarify where the corridor or entrance is for the indoor unit

Tell us about your flat's entrance and corridor layout so we can pinpoint the best spot for the indoor unit without blocking entry or passage.

  2. 2

    Confirm drainage pipes are nearby

Locate the building's main drainage pipes to confirm they are close enough to connect the condensate line without complications.

  3. 3

    Identify window and door locations

Tell us about window and door positions and which way the flat faces the sun so we can calculate the heat load accurately and choose the right unit size.

FAQ

Questions about Apartment central AC

Is there enough ceiling space in a flat for a central unit?

It varies between flats. Slim ceiling cassettes need less void depth than full ducted units. A site survey measures what is available and decides the right type; if the corridor ceiling is too shallow we look at a storage room or bathroom ceiling instead.

Is one unit enough for the whole flat or do I need more?

It depends on the flat's area, room layout and how much sun each side receives. Two- and three-bedroom flats can sometimes work with one unit and well-planned ducts; larger flats or those with separate zones may need two. The survey decides.

Where does the outdoor unit go when the flat has no large balcony?

Options include the shared roof if the building rules allow it, a facade bracket away from neighbours' windows, or the balcony if it can take the load. We review the building's rules before recommending any position.

Jeddah's air is very humid; does that affect the condensate drain?

Yes. In Jeddah the indoor unit produces more condensate because of the high humidity. We make sure the drain line has enough fall, that the horizontal run before it drops is not too long, and that the outlet does not conflict with other flats' drainage in the building.

Can the flat be split into two zones with different temperatures?

It is possible using two separate indoor units or by adding variable-flow dampers on the duct runs. The right choice depends on the flat's layout and the ceiling void available in each zone. A site survey decides which approach suits your room arrangement.

The flat is quite small, how do you distribute AC without eating into space?

We mount the indoor unit in the ceiling of the corridor or entrance where it does not affect rooms or living areas, then quietly distribute cool air from there.

Will the drain affect my neighbour's flat below or beside me?

We safely route the drain to the main stack with complete insulation to prevent any leaks or moisture affecting adjacent neighbours.

The flat has few window openings, does this affect cooling efficiency?

We study the flat's size and openings and calculate the heat load precisely, so we may recommend a slightly higher capacity unit to ensure effective cooling in flats with few windows.

Is central AC cheap to run in a small flat?

We choose a unit sized precisely for your flat's area, so electricity consumption is efficient, and you can adjust the temperature to save energy.
