Central AC for apartments

Apartment central AC in Al Quzain

In Al Quzain, south Jeddah, central AC installation in flats combines relatively spacious layouts with coastal heat and humidity challenges. Alrabih makes use of the extra space to design a balanced and efficient duct network.

When central AC makes sense in your flat

  1. 1

    New flat before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to install central AC. The ceiling is open and walls are ready for copper and drain routes, so there is no need later to cut plaster or damage finished surfaces.

  2. 2

Occupied flat where splits fall short

If splits leave hot and cold patches, or the noise bothers you at night, central AC distributes air evenly and hides the unit away from the room. A site survey decides whether your ceiling height allows it.

  3. 3

    Your unit disturbs the neighbours

In apartments, neighbours hear unit vibration through shared ceilings and walls. We choose the indoor unit suspension point carefully and use flexible collars on the air outlets to absorb vibration before it reaches the building structure.

Who it's for

  • Living in a furnished flat and want to replace splits

We survey your ceiling void to see whether a concealed unit fits, then run copper and drain without disturbing the existing décor.

  • Buying a flat in a building under construction

We coordinate with the finishing stage to run copper, drain and ducts before ceilings and walls are closed, so every route stays fully concealed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Ceiling and route survey

We measure the available ceiling void, decide where the indoor unit hangs, map the copper route and find where condensate drains without causing damp. The survey decides whether one zone or more suits the flat.

  2. 2

    Run copper and drain

We run insulated Mueller copper in the void above the suspended ceiling and slope the condensate line towards the building drain or an external outlet, so no standing water causes odour or damp.

  3. 3

    Fit ducts and outlets

We mount the indoor unit on vibration-absorbing hangers, route ducts to each room and place every outlet so air spreads evenly without blowing cold air directly onto anyone.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, test and hand over

We vacuum the copper line to remove air and moisture, check all joints, then run the unit and confirm cooling in every room before we hand over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Quzain is a growing residential neighbourhood with relatively contemporary apartment blocks where flats are larger than the old central districts, providing better space for ducts and indoor units. But its southern coastal location means fierce heat and high humidity. Central AC here can be more efficient due to the larger space, but insulation and drainage must still be robust against high humidity. Duct design can be more flexible because ceilings are deeper and corridors wider.

Al Quzain lies in south Jeddah, a growing residential area with contemporary buildings and relatively spacious flats.

Most flats here have deeper ceiling voids than older neighbourhoods, allowing wider and more efficient ducts.

The AC setup in Al Quzain

  1. 1

    Wider and more balanced ducts

Deeper ceilings in Al Quzain allow wider ducts with less airflow resistance, improving efficiency and comfort.

  2. 2

    Thick insulation against coastal humidity

Despite the larger space, high coastal humidity requires very thick insulation in ducts and pipes to prevent heavy condensation.

  3. 3

    Flexibility in control and distribution

The larger space permits additional control dampers and more precise airflow balancing systems tailored to your preferences.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Quzain

  1. 1

    Plan room distribution and openings

Tell us about your room layout and door placement, and which areas need more airflow, so we can design the duct network to match your needs.

  2. 2

Choose the indoor unit location for balance

In a larger flat, you can choose the indoor unit location based on optimal airflow balance, not just available space.

  3. 3

Confirm ceiling access and outdoor unit placement

Confirm that the ceiling is safely accessible, and position the outdoor unit away from direct sea-borne moisture if possible.

FAQ

Questions about Apartment central AC

Is there enough ceiling space in a flat for a central unit?

It varies between flats. Slim ceiling cassettes need less void depth than full ducted units. A site survey measures what is available and decides the right type; if the corridor ceiling is too shallow we look at a storage room or bathroom ceiling instead.

Is one unit enough for the whole flat or do I need more?

It depends on the flat's area, room layout and how much sun each side receives. Two- and three-bedroom flats can sometimes work with one unit and well-planned ducts; larger flats or those with separate zones may need two. The survey decides.

Where does the outdoor unit go when the flat has no large balcony?

Options include the shared roof if the building rules allow it, a facade bracket away from neighbours' windows, or the balcony if it can take the load. We review the building's rules before recommending any position.

Jeddah's air is very humid; does that affect the condensate drain?

Yes. In Jeddah the indoor unit produces more condensate because of the high humidity. We make sure the drain line has enough fall, that the horizontal run before it drops is not too long, and that the outlet does not conflict with other flats' drainage in the building.

Can the flat be split into two zones with different temperatures?

It is possible using two separate indoor units or by adding variable-flow dampers on the duct runs. The right choice depends on the flat's layout and the ceiling void available in each zone. A site survey decides which approach suits your room arrangement.

My Al Quzain flat is larger than typical, is central AC the best fit?

Yes, absolutely. The larger space allows for wider, more balanced ductwork, giving you even air distribution across all rooms with higher efficiency.

My flat's ceiling is deeper than in older units, does that help?

Very much so. The deeper ceiling lets us use wider ducts with better designs, reducing flow noise and improving efficiency.

Sea humidity is very high here, how do you handle it in a larger flat?

The larger flat lets us fit a more powerful outdoor unit and better drainage. We use extra-thick insulation in ducts and install humidity control dampers tailored to your needs.

Will my large flat need multiple units or is one sufficient?

One unit is sufficient if your flat has open-plan design or the doors between rooms are generally open. If you prefer separate control in certain zones, we discuss a dual-unit solution with you.
