When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Asla'a is a limited but newly developing commercial district with small restaurants, budget hotels and shops selling ready-made food and beverages. Display chillers here vary by shop type, from large units in restaurants to smaller ones in hotels and shops. Intense eastern heat and coastal humidity stress all units equally, and condenser fouling happens fast. Regular maintenance is vital because any breakdown can damage the shop or hotel's reputation with customers.

Al Asla'a sits in east Jeddah, a small gradually developing commercial district with modest restaurants, budget hotels and limited services.

Display chillers in Al Asla'a serve varied needs, from large units in restaurants to small cabinets positioned in hotel corridors and shop passages.

The AC setup in Al Asla'a

  1. 1

    Large display chillers in restaurants

Restaurants use high-capacity large units to continuously display food and beverages throughout operating hours.

  2. 2

Compact chillers in hotels and corridors

Small hotels use compact cabinets in reception corridors and in-house restaurants to display beverages and pastries.

  3. 3

    Outdoor units in limited spaces

Tight spaces in restaurants and hotels make condenser mounting challenging, so it may sit on the roof or in a confined corner.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Asla'a

  1. 1

Coordinate with the restaurant or hotel manager

Notify the restaurant or hotel of the maintenance time in advance, especially if the chiller is critical to customer service.

  2. 2

Access to outdoor unit in tight space

Confirm that the condenser and fan can be safely reached, even if they are in a tight space or on a small roof.

  3. 3

Space for the team near the entrance or kitchen

Provide safe space near the restaurant or hotel entrance for the team to park and set up without disrupting staff and customer movement.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

How do small Al Asla'a restaurants and hotels use display chillers?

Restaurants use large chillers to display prepared food and beverages, and small hotels use compact cabinets in reception corridors and in-house dining areas.

Chillers in small hotels and restaurants may be in tight spaces, does that affect cooling?

Yes, tight spaces reduce airflow around the outdoor unit, raising temperature and stressing the cooling system, so we clean the condenser more frequently.

Eastern heat and humidity stress hotel and restaurant chillers, how do we protect the products?

We check temperatures on each shelf and monitor cold-air curtain performance, and regular maintenance protects both the products and the shop's reputation.

Restaurants need complex water and drain lines, does that affect chiller maintenance?

Yes, we inspect all water and drain lines connected to the chiller and ensure they are clear, because any blockage affects unit performance.
