When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Mawaddah is a residential district with small to medium food shops and local markets in relatively older buildings with low ceilings and tight passages. Chillers are often fitted in tight corners or market aisles with poor ventilation around the condenser, and heat and humidity affect the air curtain's performance. Regular inspection of the condenser and drain is vital here because dust accumulates quickly and can clog the channels easily.

Al Mawaddah is in east Jeddah, a residential district with local markets and relatively older apartment blocks.

Most display chillers here are simple units with top condensers and limited drainage, requiring cleaning every three weeks.

The AC setup in Al Mawaddah

  1. 1

Simple display chiller in a market corner

Local market shops use simple chillers without complex shelving because space is tight and budgets are constrained.

  2. 2

Top condenser with short siphon drain

The condenser drains via a short siphon to a simple sink or floor pit in the market floor.

  3. 3

Light electric air curtain due to limited ventilation

The air curtain here is lighter duty because old market ventilation is poor and air is trapped between shops.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Mawaddah

  1. 1

    Confirm the exact drain location

Check whether the drain tube goes to a surface sink or a floor pit, and tell us about the condition of the floor around the chiller.

  2. 2

Clear space around the chiller for our team

If the chiller is packed with stock or surrounded by shelves, clear at least one metre behind it to reach the condenser.

  3. 3

Ensure safe access to the ceiling or ladder point

Identify the nearest safe spot for the ladder, and confirm the floor around the chiller is solid and not too wet before the visit.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

The chiller is in a tight corner of the local market, how do you inspect it?

We carry lightweight tools and work in confined space. We focus on checking the rear condenser and coordinate with the market owner to temporarily move stock.

The condenser is high up but the ceiling is very low, is there a safety issue?

We use a short, safe ladder and confirm the clearance before visiting. We tell you if design constraints limit full inspection.

Old markets have very high humidity, how does that affect the chiller?

High humidity speeds up condensation on the glass and mould in the vents and drain. We focus on cleaning the condenser and drain every three weeks and carefully check the air curtain.

The drain is stuck to the wet floor and may block, what can we do?

We inspect the tube and check it slopes correctly to the waste point. We clear the area around the chiller and regularly clean the inlet to prevent blockages.
