When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Wahah is a diverse residential district with grocery shops, specialist stores and small cafés and restaurants, with mid-sized commercial spaces spread along relatively quiet streets compared to Umm Hablain. Although streets are less traffic-heavy and dusty, high coastal humidity presents unique challenges: salt accumulates quickly on condenser and fan parts, and the large temperature swing between day and night increases moisture condensation inside the cabinet, so regular checks on air curtain efficiency and drain pan cleaning keep performance stable and products protected from excess moisture.

Al Wahah in east Jeddah is a diverse residential district with grocery shops, specialist stores and cafés on quiet streets.

Most display chillers here are vertical cabinet units with rear or bottom condensers, mounted inside shops or near the entrance.

The AC setup in Al Wahah

  1. 1

    Vertical units with rear-mounted condenser

Most small and mid-sized shops in Al Wahah use vertical cabinets with rear condensers to save front space.

  2. 2

Display units with bottom-mounted condenser to reduce heat output

Some larger shops use cabinets with bottom condensers to limit heat output to the shop and minimise impact on the surrounding environment temperature.

  3. 3

Display units placed at shop entrances

Some shops place display units near the door to showcase products to entering customers, and these units face repeated external air currents.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Wahah

  1. 1

Ensure the drain pan under the chiller is clean

High humidity causes water to build up in the drain pan quickly, so make sure it is clean and not blocked before the visit.

  2. 2

Tell us if you notice any water leaks or moisture around the chiller

Any visible water leak or moisture around the unit indicates a drainage or air curtain issue, so tell us before the visit.

  3. 3

Ensure the floor under the chiller is dry and safe

If the floor is damp or slopes toward the chiller, tell us so we can assess its impact on drainage and corrosion.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

The high humidity near the coast here, does it affect the chiller more than drier areas?

Yes, salt and humidity speed up corrosion of metal parts and frost buildup on the drain pan, so we recommend monthly inspections and drain pan cleaning every two weeks to ensure free water flow.

My chiller is near the entrance and cool air leaks from the door, what is the fix?

Usually it is weak air curtain or poor door seal, so checking the air curtain and rubber seal around the door pinpoints the problem and allows us to fix the loss.

At night temperature drops fast and the chiller seems to reduce cooling automatically, does that affect efficiency?

This is partly normal as the motor and condenser respond to temperature swings, but if the change is very large it may indicate a thermostat or sensor issue, so inspection confirms normal behaviour.

My grocery shop has a damp floor, does that increase chiller problems?

Yes, damp floors increase humidity around the condenser and may corrode lower parts, so ensure the chiller mounting pad sits raised above the floor and drainage around the unit is clear and open.
