Dedicated duct workshop

Duct fabrication in Al Asaliyah

Al Asaliyah, south Jeddah, is experiencing rapid residential and hotel development, and most new projects need central AC ductwork to tight specifications. Alrabih fabricates galvanized and aluminium duct in the workshop from site measurements or drawings, so it arrives ready to hang with no air loss.

Who needs workshop-fabricated duct?

  1. 1

    A contractor with project-specific sizes

Your project has non-standard sizes or volumes too large for site cutting. We fabricate rectangular and round sections from your drawings at exact dimensions, labelled and ready to hang when they reach the site.

  2. 2

Fittings too awkward to cut on site

Elbows, transitions, offsets and takeoffs come out distorted when cut by hand on site, leaking air and creating noise in the line. We make them in the workshop at the right dimensions with tight seams.

  3. 3

Extending or renovating an existing duct network

You need new branches, a damaged section replaced or a fitting that matches an old duct size. We measure the existing network on site and fabricate the pieces to match what is already there.

Who it's for

  • Building a facility that needs non-standard duct sizes

We read your project drawings and fabricate all sections and fittings at exact dimensions from G90 or aluminium sheet, labelled and ready to hang the moment they reach your site.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Take measurements

A technician visits the site or you send us the drawings; we list every duct section needed, its size and the correct sheet thickness for that section.

  2. 2

    Fabricate sections and fittings

We cut, form and lock the sheet in the workshop, including all elbows, transitions, offsets and takeoffs, and each section comes out at its exact dimension.

  3. 3

    Label and prepare for delivery

We number every section and fitting against the assembly plan so the installation crew knows exactly where each piece goes, with no guessing on site.

  4. 4

    Deliver to site

We deliver the duct to your Jeddah site protected and ready to hang. If you need an installation crew, we can arrange that as a separate step.

What sets this district apart

Al Asaliyah is a relatively modern district with a regular grid layout and wide spacing between buildings, making it easier for the workshop team to take precise measurements on site before fabrication. The residential and hotel buildings here are mostly medium to high-rise and need complex ductwork with multiple transitions, elbows and takeoffs, and fabricating these in the workshop saves time, ensures accuracy and avoids field cutting errors. The hot, dry air in south Jeddah demands tight seals at all joints, which precision workshop fabrication achieves in ways that on-site cutting cannot.

Al Asaliyah is in south Jeddah, a modern growth district with residential and hotel projects of medium to high rise.

Most projects here require complex central ductwork networks with varied diameters and transitions, and workshop pre-fabrication saves weeks of the construction schedule.

The AC setup in Al Asaliyah

  1. 1

    Complex multi-branch ductwork networks

Residential and hotel projects in Al Asaliyah typically need ductwork with multiple transitions and branches to distribute air across several floors and suites.

  2. 2

G90 galvanized and lightweight aluminium duct

Most projects here choose either galvanized steel for durability or aluminium for lightweight installation depending on mounting location and height.

  3. 3

Airtight seals at all joints and transitions

Workshop duct fabrication ensures airtight seals at every joint, which is critical in the hot, dry climate of south Jeddah.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Asaliyah

  1. 1

Bring the complete architectural and mechanical drawings

If drawings are available, send them in advance to reduce on-site measurement time and ensure fabrication accuracy.

  2. 2

Confirm access to all roofs and passages for the measurement team

Ensure that all roofs and internal passages can be accessed safely by the measurement team before fabrication begins.

  3. 3

Mark the location of existing equipment, conduits and pipes

Tell us where electrical conduits, pipes and other equipment sit on roofs and inside spaces so we can plan the duct route without conflicts.

FAQ

Questions about Duct fabrication

Can you fabricate from drawings without visiting the site?

Yes, when the drawings are clear and carry the actual as-built dimensions. If a dimension is uncertain or a field change has been made, we prefer a site visit to avoid a fabricated piece that does not fit. We discuss the better approach with you before starting work.

What is the difference between galvanized and aluminium sheet for duct?

G90 galvanized sheet is the standard choice for interior duct: strong and suited to a range of pressures. Aluminium is lighter and handles Jeddah's coastal humidity and salt air better, making it right for some exposed applications or where structural load is a limiting factor. The correct choice depends on the site.

Can you make elbows and transitions to match an existing duct network?

Yes. We measure the existing network on site to match sizes precisely, whether you need a new branch added, a damaged fitting replaced or an extension tied into the original ductwork. The right approach is confirmed after the site visit.

How do you choose sheet thickness for each section?

Thickness follows section size: a large duct needs heavier sheet to hold its shape under pressure, a small one can use lighter material. We apply the SMACNA requirements to each section in the project individually, not a single thickness across the whole job.

Does Jeddah's humidity and salt air affect which sheet material to use?

Yes, particularly for sections exposed to outdoor air or installed near fresh-air intakes. G90 galvanized sheet performs well inside the building, but aluminium is the better choice where duct is in continuous contact with Jeddah's humid, salt-laden air. The site survey determines the right material for each section.

Does on-site cut duct leak more air than workshop-fabricated duct?

Yes, on-site cutting cannot hold precise dimensions or ensure tight joint fit, whereas workshop-fabricated duct seals perfectly with no gaps or air loss when installed.

In Al Asaliyah, how wide are the streets and building access points generally?

Al Asaliyah has a regular grid with relatively wide streets, which makes it easy for the workshop team to enter buildings, passageways and roofs to take precise measurements before fabrication.

Does the heat and dryness in south Jeddah affect the duct and joints?

Yes, hot dry air increases leakage from weak joints, so workshop-fabricated duct with tight seals is essential to keep the whole system efficient.

How do you avoid clashing with existing electrical conduits and water pipes on the roof during duct installation?

We take complete measurements from the site before fabrication and plan the duct route to avoid existing conduits and pipes, so the fabricated duct fits the available space without on-site modifications.
