When your freezer needs attention

  1. 1

The freezer is not freezing hard

Products feel soft or partly thawed even though the freezer is running. The cause may be the thermostat, the compressor, the refrigerant charge or the temperature sensor circuit. A site diagnosis tells you which one needs fixing.

  2. 2

Ice building up and not defrosting

A thick ice layer on the freezer wall or evaporator points to a fault in the defrost cycle, whether in the defrost heater, timer or sensor. Left alone, the build-up strains the compressor and steadily raises electricity use.

  3. 3

A door that will not seal or a unit that keeps alarming

A worn door gasket lets warm humid air in constantly, building ice and pressing the compressor harder. We check the gasket, the door frame and the alarm switch to find the cause of repeated alarms and put it right.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

Send us the freezer type, the fault you have noticed and your district, and we tell you what the technician will need before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the compressor, evaporator, defrost circuit and door gasket, then explains what he found and proposes the repair before starting any work.

  3. 3

    Repair and reset

We fix the faulty part, reset the defrost cycle if needed, and test the freeze temperature and alarm after closing the unit.

  4. 4

    Performance check and handover

We confirm the freezer reaches the right freeze temperature and the door closes tightly, then explain how to monitor performance over the next few days.

What sets this district apart

Al Rabiyah is a relatively modern commercial district with villas, residential blocks and wide streets lined with diverse shops, restaurants and bakeries. High heat and coastal humidity constantly stress commercial freezers, especially units running all day under heavy use. Copper lines and coils face corrosion and mould, and the compressor needs regular maintenance to preserve freeze strength. Planned maintenance prevents sudden breakdowns and keeps frozen products safe.

Al Rabiyah is in south Jeddah, a relatively modern commercial area with wide streets lined with diverse shops, restaurants and bakeries.

Most commercial freezer units here are horizontal or vertical models in shops and restaurants, with outdoor units on roofs or in the spaces between buildings.

The AC setup in Al Rabiyah

  1. 1

Horizontal and vertical freezers in shops and restaurants

Most Al Rabiyah commercial units are horizontal for heavy storage or vertical for display, connected by copper lines to outdoor units on the roof or at the back.

  2. 2

Cold rooms in larger restaurants and bakeries

Larger restaurants and bakeries have separate cold rooms with complex circulating refrigeration systems needing specialised maintenance of door seals and insulation.

  3. 3

Outdoor units on roofs and inter-building spaces

Outdoor units are on high roofs or in narrow inter-building gaps, exposed to direct heat, coastal salt and sometimes poor ventilation.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Rabiyah

  1. 1

Tell us exactly where the outdoor unit is

Whether the unit is on the roof or in a back gap, tell us its exact location before we visit so we can confirm safe access and equipment.

  2. 2

Arrange the service time with the shop or restaurant

The freezer is vital to your business, so arrange a time that minimises production and sales stoppage, and tell us if stock is heavy.

  3. 3

Confirm safe access to the roof or back areas

If the unit is on a high roof or tight area, confirm before the visit day that the team can reach it safely and the roof or passage is stable.

FAQ

Questions about Freezer maintenance

Can the freezer be repaired without emptying it completely?

It depends on the fault. Checks on the compressor or an external sensor can be done without touching the contents. Repairs to the evaporator or defrost heater need the freezer emptied, and we tell you in advance and advise how to keep the stock in cool boxes while we work.

Why does my freezer compressor never stop running?

Three common causes: a worn door gasket letting warm air in, ice build-up on the evaporator reducing heat transfer, or low refrigerant. The technician checks all three during the visit and identifies the real cause before any repair.

Why does heavy frost keep building up inside my freezer even though the door closes properly?

The most common cause is a fault in the automatic defrost circuit, whether in the heater element, the timer or the temperature sensor. When this circuit fails, ice accumulates on the evaporator coil until airflow is blocked, cooling weakens and energy use rises. The technician identifies the exact cause by testing each component of the circuit in turn.

Do you service both chest and upright freezers?

Yes, we service both types in homes and shops. Chest and upright freezers share many components such as the compressor, evaporator and thermostat, but the defrost cycle design and coil position differ between them, and our technicians are trained to handle that difference in every case.

Does the freezer type, chest or upright, change how the repair is done?

Yes, in some steps. A chest freezer has the evaporator wrapped around the inner walls, while an upright has it at the back of the compartment with a fan. The position of the defrost heater and how to reach it differ between the two, so the technician needs to know the type before the visit to bring the right tools.

I run a small restaurant with a heavily used freezer, how do I keep it in good shape?

Service every two to three months keeps heavy-use freezers running and prevents sudden breakdowns. We check the compressor, coils and lines and clean dust and mould from the condenser.

Al Rabiyah has wide streets, but my outdoor unit is on a high roof, can you reach it?

Yes, our team has safe equipment for working on high roofs. We coordinate with you before the visit to confirm the roof is safe and we have everything we need.

High heat makes the compressor run non-stop, is that normal?

In extreme heat, the compressor works harder, but if it never stops there may be a fault. We check it and verify refrigerant charge and ventilation around the outdoor unit.

Coastal salt damages the condenser, how do you protect it?

We inspect the condenser at every service and clean it of salt and mould. We recommend protecting the outdoor unit from moisture and salt with a protective wall or screen if possible.
