When you need a medical HVAC specialist
- 1
Hospital or clinic under construction
The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.
- 2
Departments reporting warm air or odours
In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.
- 3
Maintenance contract for a running facility
A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.
Who it's for

How we work
How we work
- 1
Survey and requirements
We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.
- 2
Design and supply
We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.
- 3
Phased coordinated installation
In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.
- 4
Commissioning and follow-up
We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

What sets this district apart
Modern hospitals in Al Bayan combine multiple climate zones: sterile operating theatres requiring precise control, intensive care units with continuous high thermal load, laboratories and pharmacies needing stable temperature, and public corridors and waiting areas. This complexity means the AC system must run separate zones with full backup power protection, and any failure affects several departments at once. Regular maintenance and scheduled inspections keep the system safe and stable.
Al Bayan in east Jeddah is an advanced medical district housing modern hospitals with specialist, complex departments.
Most modern hospitals in Al Bayan use two-pipe or four-pipe central AC systems with separate air handling units for each department.
The AC setup in Al Bayan
- 1
Central system with separate air handling units per department
Different hospital departments (theatres, intensive care, labs) need different cooling loads, so each has its own air handling unit connected to the central system.
- 2
Main distribution piping in suspended ceilings and walls
Main piping distributes hot and chilled water throughout the hospital via suspended ceilings and walls, allowing flexibility to add units later.
- 3
Backup power and surge protection systems
Hospitals are equipped with backup generators and voltage protection systems to ensure AC continues if mains power fails.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Al Bayan
- 1
Secure approval from medical and engineering management
Before the visit, get approval from the chief engineer and medical manager on timing and scope of work to avoid any conflict with hospital operations.
- 2
Map access routes to intensive care and operating theatres
Identify safe access routes, lifts and corridors the team can use without disturbing patients or clinical lines.
- 3
Ensure safe space for equipment and tools
Hospitals may have limited space for heavy equipment, so agree with management on a safe storage area away from sensitive clinical zones.

FAQ
Questions about Hospital HVAC
How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?
Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.
Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?
Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.
What governs duct network design in a medical building?
Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?
We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.
How do you ensure cooling never stops in intensive care during maintenance?
We schedule maintenance in full coordination with hospital management, work on one isolated section at a time while other departments remain at full capacity, and complete work within pre-agreed hours.
Do you handle sterile operating theatres and clean air systems?
Yes, operating theatres require special handling to maintain cleanliness standards and precise humidity and temperature control, and our team has experience with clean systems and high-efficiency filters.
The hospital sees peak patient loads in summer with very high outdoor temperatures, can the AC system handle the load?
Yes, but it depends on the system's current capacity and the actual bed count and medical equipment in each department. A site visit will confirm if the capacity is sufficient or if expansion is needed.
The hospital's power system and backup generators are aging, does that affect the AC units?
Heavy electrical loads in hospitals can cause voltage fluctuations affecting compressors and control units. We inspect electrical connections and surge protection and recommend a voltage stabiliser if needed.
