When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Dahiyah is a relatively modern southern extension area with hospitals and specialist clinics of varying sizes in advanced buildings. Central cooling systems here vary by medical facility size and need precise regular maintenance because medical departments are very sensitive to temperature fluctuations. Modern buildings offer spacious roofs and secure electrical connections, easing installation and maintenance.

Al Dahiyah lies in south Jeddah, a modern extension area with hospitals and specialist clinics of varying sizes.

Advanced central cooling with electronic control units is the primary choice in most Al Dahiyah hospitals, though some may need simpler, less complex central systems.

The AC setup in Al Dahiyah

  1. 1

Central system scaled to facility size

Small hospitals may need one simple central system, medium ones need larger systems with multiple control zones. We design to actual size to avoid oversizing or undersizing.

  2. 2

    Ducts distributed by department usage

Distribution ducts are completely separate between medical departments to ensure independent control and prevent contaminant transfer between departments, especially between operating theatres and clinics.

  3. 3

    Calibrated units and sensitive controls

We use precisely calibrated sensors and smart control systems capable of maintaining temperature and humidity within tight ranges to meet each medical department's needs.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Dahiyah

  1. 1

Provide detailed description of hospital departments

Describe the existing departments and planned additions, current AC usage and expected heat loads, so we design the system accurately.

  2. 2

Ensure safe access and coordinate with management

Confirm roofs and technical corridors are safe and clear, and inform hospital management of the visit date to coordinate resources and staff.

  3. 3

Identify available electrical and water connections

Tell us the locations of main electrical and water connections, drains and main breaker so we plan distribution and installation without delay.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

How do you help the medical team understand the new cooling system?

We provide brief training for facilities and technical staff on operating the new system, reading instruments and handling simple faults. Operation and emergency documentation is always available.

Does a new system use less electricity than the old one?

Modern systems are usually more efficient than old ones, especially if the old system has been in use for many years. We recommend comparing electricity bills after two months of installation to confirm actual savings.

Medical departments need low humidity, how do you control it without stopping?

We install advanced humidity monitors and large cooling coils capable of removing excess moisture efficiently. The system operates continuously and precisely according to pre-calibrated control programming.

Can the current system be expanded for new departments if the hospital grows?

It depends on system design and current capacity. We usually design systems with adequate margin to allow adding departments or units without complete replacement. We assess the site and provide expansion recommendations when needed.
