When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

  • Building a new hospital or medical centre

We survey the building early and design systems to each department's requirements before installation begins.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Lulu is a rapidly expanding northern district with specialist clinics and medical incubators alongside residential and commercial buildings. Medical buildings here are newly constructed and need flexible HVAC designs suited to potential future expansion. Each clinic has different ventilation needs by specialty: surgical clinics need higher sterilisation standards, while paediatric and dental clinics require stable temperature control. Design accounts for the possibility of adding new departments later.

Al Lulu lies in northern Jeddah, a rapidly growing district with specialist clinics and medical incubators alongside ongoing residential development.

Modern medical facilities in Al Lulu use flexible central systems that allow new cooling zones to be added as the clinic expands.

The AC setup in Al Lulu

  1. 1

    Expandable central system

Modern medical centres in Al Lulu need a system that accommodates new departments and ducts without a complete redesign.

  2. 2

    Zoning by clinical department type

Surgical and general clinics have different needs, so we zone the system independently by medical specialty.

  3. 3

    Flexible ducts for future growth

We size main ducts larger than current needs to leave room for new branches when the facility expands.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Lulu

  1. 1

Review the building plan and planned expansions

Ask the clinic for a building plan and any future expansion drawings, so we can account for them in the design.

  2. 2

    Identify clinical department priorities

Learn the types of clinical departments in the centre and their sizes, so we know which ones need stronger ventilation.

  3. 3

Locate the roof or base for outdoor units

Modern medical centres may prefer outdoor units on the roof or in a dedicated yard. Confirm the space and structural capacity are available.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Our clinic is new, can the AC design accommodate future expansion?

Yes, we design flexibility into the system: we select central units with spare capacity and main ducts sized to accommodate future branch additions when you expand.

Do surgical clinics need different ventilation from other departments?

Yes, operating rooms and surgical clinics need cleaner air with positive pressure and finer filtration than other departments, which have less stringent requirements.

How do Jeddah's summer heat and humidity affect crowded waiting rooms?

High humidity and intense heat increase the cooling load in potentially crowded waiting rooms. We select high-capacity evaporators with strong dehumidification to handle peak summer demand.

Do we need separate electrical circuits for different AC units?

Yes, each central unit or critical cooling zone needs its own electrical circuit and dedicated breaker, so a failure in one area does not affect the other departments.
