When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Lulu is a relatively new district with standalone shops and small shopping arcades in mid-rise buildings, where HVAC must balance cooling power against electricity costs since most shops run tight budgets. The common type here is a large split or small ceiling unit, with maintenance scheduled for evenings or early mornings to avoid peak shopping hours.

Al Lulu is a northern Jeddah district of small shops and shopping centres in contemporary mid-rise buildings.

Most Al Lulu shops use large split units or ceiling-mounted units, with outdoor units typically on shared balconies or external areas.

The AC setup in Al Lulu

  1. 1

One or two large split units

Most Al Lulu shops have one powerful split unit, or two separate units if the shop is particularly large.

  2. 2

    Ceiling-mounted units in some shops

Smaller shops or subdivided spaces sometimes use compact ceiling units connected by short duct runs.

  3. 3

    Outdoor units on shared balconies

Outdoor units typically sit on shared balconies or external areas between shops to preserve street-facing space.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Lulu

  1. 1

Give us a time that avoids peak shopping hours

Pick an early morning or evening slot before or after the rush, so our team can work comfortably and customers are not affected.

  2. 2

Ensure team access to the street and external area

Make sure the path to the balcony where the outdoor unit sits is clear, and that an external door or access window can open safely.

  3. 3

Clear space for the team and customers

Ensure there is enough room inside the shop for the team to move between the indoor unit and access points without blocking customers.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

Our electricity bill rises every month because of the AC, how do we cut consumption?

Replacing filters monthly, cleaning the coils and condenser fins, and checking the compressor all improve efficiency significantly. We also suggest setting temperature to 24°C rather than lower to cut demand.

The street outside is narrow with parked cars, how do you get your tools in?

We ask you to confirm the nearest safe parking spot beforehand, and the team carries tools and parts by hand from there to the shop.

Street heat and bright shop lighting make the AC run constantly, is that normal?

Yes, shops facing the street directly and bright lighting increase heat load significantly. Insulating curtains and reducing unnecessary lighting ease the load on the system.

Can we schedule maintenance at a time that does not affect shop sales?

Yes, we arrange evening service after close or a rest day, and confirm that a quick check does not require a long shutdown.
