When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Muhammadiyah is a developing northern district with multiple medical projects and modern hospitals in tall buildings, with rapid growth in specialist clinics and medical centres. The hot, humid coastal climate demands high-precision cooling with careful temperature and humidity control, especially in operating theatres and neonatal units. Departmentalised HVAC systems with regular maintenance without stopping medical services are essential to keep patients safe without interruption.

Al Muhammadiyah lies on Jeddah's northern coast, a fast-growing medical zone with modern hospitals and clinic centres.

Most modern hospitals here use central systems with separate ducts, with outdoor units distributed on tall rooftops.

The AC setup in Al Muhammadiyah

  1. 1

Separate cooling lines for hospital and specialist clinics

Each hospital department and specialist clinic has its own separate cooling line with a backup connection point for emergencies.

  2. 2

Outdoor units resistant to harsh coastal elements

The coastal location and salt demand corrosion-resistant units with extra protective coatings and regular inspection.

  3. 3

High-efficiency filters and precise humidity control

Operating theatres, ICU and neonatal units have HEPA filters and precise humidity control units to protect patients and equipment.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Muhammadiyah

Check the safety of passages to the roof and outdoor units, and ensure keys and adequate lighting are available before the visit day.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Can you design cooling for separate specialist clinics attached to a main hospital?

Yes, we design separate cooling lines for specialist clinics with a backup line connected to the main hospital system for emergencies.

The building is very tall, how do you bring maintenance equipment to the roof?

We use building lifts and safe internal routes, and coordinate maintenance times to avoid emergency and patient movements.

Salt and humidity damage outdoor units, how do you protect them?

We choose salt and corrosion-resistant units, apply additional protective coatings, and run regular inspections to prevent rust and deterioration.

How often a year should hospital cooling systems be serviced?

It depends on system type and heavy use, but hospitals typically need full inspections every three months and at least monthly routine maintenance.
